Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at Sterling? Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers? What is a typical day in the life of an employee at Sterling? |

I worked for Sterling for two years and LOVED it. I would HAPPILY return there (and have been called several times for open positions). Let's see. I worked in Credit & Collections. My VP was very welcoming and open. If I had a problem I didn't feel I could talk to my supervisor about, I wouldn't even hesitate to take it to her. She and I actually got together several times to discuss my future and direction with Sterling. My immediate boss was amazing. I had no problem busting my butt for him because I knew I was appreciated. Because I worked very hard for him, if I had any issues (personal or otherwise), I could very easily take time off to deal with them, even with short notice. As for general corporate life, it was very pleasant. I found almost everyone very welcoming and friendly. I never felt like I couldn't just plop down at a table in the cafe and chat up some complete strangers. Sterling really focuses on training and advancement. They realize that you're not going to be with them forever, but they still want to be a good stepping stone to where you plan to go (with them or not). Sterling also does a lot of charity work. St. Jude's is our corporate charity, so there are always fund raisers for them. We also do Relay for Life and United Way. However, the nice part, is I never really felt pressured to contribute unless I wanted to. Dress is business casual with casual Fridays. They also sell stickers for 'jeans' week, where it's a casual week for contributing $5 to St. Jude's. They happen about once per two months. Oh! And if you work for sterling, whatever you do DON'T miss Cream-Puff Day!!! The chef at the Diamond Grill makes these AMAZING cream puffs. And it's near impossible to lose weight at Sterling, the food is SO GOOD. They do have low-cal options as well as a private gym, but I loved the regular food WAY too much. And fresh blueberry pancakes and eggs in the morning....Who can resist!?!? |

How wonderful that you love your job. Most people don't, you have given Sterling a rave review. I hope they know you are a keeper and that they should find a way to hire you back! Good Luck! |
