I used to work for them. They do all in house here in Deer Valley Arizona. They do have another center in Pleasanton, CA but most of it goes through here in Arizona. 20227 N 27th Ave

Thanks for the reply MTG30....When you say they do all in house in Arizona and California....do you mean they have a repair center where broken equipment is sent to and repaired at those locations ? I was referring to doing the repairs onsite (in each Safeway store)...In Colorado for example...I am trying to apply for a job in the department that repairs the equipment onsite at each stores location.I did that for 10 for Publix Supermarkets in Florida and would like to relocate to Colorado and possibly get a job with Safeway doing the same thing.

No, Safeway will call their helpdesk. They will try to fix it for them. If not they send out a tech. A tech will try to fix it, if he can't he replaces it. Alot of times they just replace it. Then it's sent here via truck where it's repaired. They do not do scales and such as those are handled by Hobart. |

Thanks again MTG30...When you say if the help desk cant resolve the scale problem and they send out a tech...does that tech work for Safeway? Thats what I am trying to find out.
Thanks for your input....this type of info is hard to come by and is really appreciated. |

Yes, that tech does work for Safeway. He/she will have a number of stores that are theirs to make sure they are up and running. They do all POS equipment. They do not to the belts on the registers, nor the scales and meat wrappers in the meat and bakery depts. Those will be handled by Hobart. I used to work for their helpdesk. I did a weekend 'ride along' with the techs. It was pretty cool to see what they do. Sounds like you could easily do the job there at Safeway. |

Yep...thats what I have with Publix...I am assigned to a district....mostly 22 stores but on my co workers days off in the next district next to me...I take care of his stores...sometimes I may have up to approx 70 stores on a weekend. I have a company van,all tools supplied and lunches paid for. I am desperatly wanting to relocate to Denver,Co and really need to find out a contact # for Safeway's dept that does the hiring for this type of work..I did some research and was thinking this office.....( I will cut and paste it below )....may be the place to go talk to someone...it is about 5 miles from where I will be living in Denver. Please...since you were doing that help desk job...I am willing to bet you have knowledge on WHO for me to CONTACT.I would be forever grateful for your follow up...so far you have been VERY helpful. Thanks again for your efforts....
Safeway Division Office Centennial P.S. Funny...the help desk people do 'ride along " once in awhile with us....and they enjoy it also...interesting to them plus they get out of the office into the field !!!! |

Yeah I tried to do that for you. do this.
Good luck! Safeway is a GREAT company to work for. If they wouldn't have moved from Tempe to Deer Valley, which is 50 miles away.. I would still be there. I almost built a house and moved.. but didn't. |
