Safeway rehire policy/seniority

I have been working at Safeway as a courtesy clerk since January and will most likely resign end of July or beginning of august. I will be attending Lewis & Clark College in Portland next year but won't be able to work (will be playing football plus freshmen can't have car.). I will try to get a job at the local Safeway sometime at the end of 2012/beginning of 2013. Do I stand a good chance of getting rehired? (I am in good standing with the company, the manager likes me and I will give proper notice.). Also will my seniority carry over between now and then? Thanks
