Every business has its own style. What is the office environment and culture like at Sam's Club?

Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers?

What is a typical day in the life of an employee at Sam's Club?

This is easily the most thoroughly effed up place that I've ever had to work. They hire people as cashiers, but they really want a sales force. You'd darn well better not let as much as a bottle of water go out that door if it wasn't rung up, but it's okay to allow thousands and thousands of dollars worth of trees, bushes, and other live plants wither and die from neglect. You're expected to memorize scores of five and six digit numbers for products that they don't want to waste time on attaching bar codes for easier ringing up. It takes about six weeks to figure out who your boss is. I've seen co-workers beg for up to 3 months for simple instruction on how to request a day off.

They pay well, but the place is run by a bunch of intellectual deficients who have forgotten that consumers are what make the place stay open. One by one they screw each member and it's going to cause the place to go under.

They place no value on experienced workers. In fact, those workers are an obstacle in the way of profit as they make too much money. They're being fired for petty little things every week.

It's a decent place to work, but if you're looking for personal reward, look elsewhere.
