Exactly what is the criteria for this award? They certainly did not interview the 100+ people that were let go in the midwest 2006/2007. They did not "really" review the company's methods of training, promotion and discharge. David Schawk and his 3 henchmen should get an award for "Grinches Of The Decade". People "who know" in this industry are either laughing their heads off or throwing up after hearing of this award, again!!

This self-honoring award is bestowed to anyone that pays dues to be honored by PIA/GATF for Its Exemplary Human Relations Practices.
If you go to the PIA/GATF website you will see all their members won the award.
This company has branded themselves as a joke. The stock is weak, the leadership is weak and anyone that reads the propaganda better not have a weak stomach.

It's quite sad to have make such a big deal about an award that holds no real merit. Schawk just isn't a very good company and definitely note one that should be honored as an ideal work environment, especially the Ambrosi business unit. Very short sighted vision of the future, poor leadership, poor working enironment, and dwindling business opportunites.

I worked for Schawk for about 18 months.
Do not work there. They are the stereotypical Big Brother corporation. Very small raises, minimalist benefits policy, etc. A lot of their locations are in cities that are suffering in this economy, and they use the fear of unemployment as leverage to squeeze their workers.

Also, they make you take a drug test. For the kind of work they do, there is no reason. Any company that wants your urine should be avoided like the plague.

If you are unemployed, and they offer you a job, keep looking. That's how bad it is working there.

Hmm. The best workplace in america program has their criteria on their web site for all to see. Maybe you should research before typing. They have two long forms to fill out. Policies, any layoffs, safety records, health insurance rates, company contribution to retirement, turnover, etc., are all questions on the form. I suggest you compare this program to some others out there and judge for yourself. Also, I see some companies that are NOT PIA/GATF members on the winners list. Again, do your homework people. You look foolish.
