SEL puts the CULT in culture! I worked there for over 10 years. It's like high school, with cliques consisting of the CEO's family members and favorite engineers, such as his daughter-in-law who works in IT scanning emails and watching security cameras. People dress nice, and act nice, but indoctrination begins at Day 1, and Employee Ownership means jack squat here except a way to tax-defer retirement contributions. There's zero transparency from management, and a lot of fear-mongering and whispering among workers. If you get tired of drinking the Koolaid or being a giddy SEL cheerleader, smile, act happy and don't complain, or they'll find a way to make coming to work miserable and you'll want to quit, or they'll demoralize you with a PIP, or fire you for some generic offense like "not a team player." You'll love the people you work WITH, but not the company-line higher-ups you work FOR.
