Don't mention your conviction.

They will do a background check on you. So I couldn't see you hiding your conviction.

Speaking as a former HR Generalist with Sears Holidings I can tell you, DO NOT LIE and DO NOT OMIT. If you look, the application asks if you have been convicted of a crime, not whether its a misdemeanor or felony. The background check company that Sears Holdings uses can see charges as well as convictions. You can say anything you like, but if you lie on that application, you wont be hired. Period. Ever.

Be honest from the application forward and you will have a good chance of getting hired, as long as you are not dealing with money or credit information in the position you are applying for. With that particular conviction that you have, you will not get a register or call center position with Sears Holdings under any circumstances.

By the way, I don't care how much a lawyer or judge 'buries' something, Sears Holdings will find it.

I agree about not lying...I still have to report a drinking and driving chrage that I have from nearly 23 years ago! Although my life now is very different and I am not a drinker, it is still best to be brutally honest. If you lie about something, how is that employer to know that you aren't lying about something else also?..You have to look at it from their point of view...Would you want to be lied to?...Be honest and some employers will respect your honesty..;^)

You can't just pay a judge or lawyer under the table to "bury" something..They just don't do that and isn't that illega anyhow?...Do the right things, but don't do things that could bite you in the butt later!!!

I have never had so much as a speeding ticket and I am having a hard time finding honest work myself. It may not JUST be your criminal record.

ive done some applications for sears and kmart and i think the survey they give you is stupid, some of the questions i think are wrong because theres four possibles answers and the one you pick could be a good answer but if its not thier answer your wrong
And to top it off, the starting pay is nothing to be happy about
