I keep track of the hours I work. I should have recieved pay for 19.5 hrs, but instead on the paycheck it said 19.3 hrs. Our punch in device at sears hardware is about 8 mins fast for some rediculous reason and some clocks are slow. |

You can complain about it, but probably nothing will happen. Your only real recourse is to file a labor standards complaint either with the state or the feds. Of course they will then retaliate against you and cut your hours down to nothing. What I would do if I were you is quit and THEN file the labor standards complaint. Keep track of every hour they cheat you on. I guarantee that this is happening to thousands of other employees across the country as well- this is why we so badly need government that will start taking action against corporate crime. If a kid so much as lifts a piece of gum from a store you can be sure he will be fully prosecuted, but crimes committed in the name of corporations go mostly unpunished. The Sears in my neighborhood has been caught at least 10 times this year paying their employees less than minimum wage and I don't think they've been cited once for it... the only penalty for Sears breaking the law it seems is to pay that person they've been caught cheating up to the legal minimum for the time they can prove they worked. |

i am starting my freshman year of college soon, so i will be leaving anyway. i have saved my hours going back almost a month, so i know the hours i have worked are correct. i make sure i punch out over the amount of time i work. Example: I will come in at 8:53 am, but on the punch in device, it says it is 9:02, and on the wall clock in the breakroom it is 9:04. So, when i punch out i make sure it is for example 3:06. For the first 1 1/2 months i waited till the slowest clock in sears struck the hour before i punched out. that means many times i worked an extra 17 mins. If you multiply that by the number of times i did this, that is a lot of extra hours. |

update: i recently left because i start college but once again i was underpaid i worked 35.5 hours and was paid for 34.9. that comes out to ripping me off $4.80. they probably do that to every employee. what should i do? can you file a labor standards dispute anomynously because although i no longer work there i dont want to burn my bridges. in other words does the empoyer find out who filed the dispute |

They will be able to see who filed the dispute, but you should file it anyway. They cannot retaliate against you for it, or they will get in even more trouble for it. |
