Within two hours on my first day my position was switched and i recieved no formal training. it seems like everyday i am told something new which contradicts one of the plethora of managers. i work in ***** dept and i couldnt tell you how the sh*t works and whenever a customer asks a question i have to find someone else. i dont know policy as far as what to do if someone needs to order something or what not, no one ever told me anything about whether i recieve commission on equiptment sold. i am sick of all the managers contradicting each other

Most of the little procedures are made up by someone sitting behind a desk in Arlington Heights, IL and the book that lists all of them is over 500 pages long, so it is very difficult for any manager to memorize all of them- not to mention that they've been asked to do it on their own time.

The local managers are the ones in the trenches and will know the most logical and effective way to complete any of the daily tasks... only to find out later that Sears standard operating procedures forbid them from doing it that way. That is why you hear so many contradictions- managers are being micro-managed by corporate and aren't empowered to make decisions so minor as what to put on a shelf or how to fill out a form.
