It depends our store is hiring for any and every position Merchandise and Cashiers (CSA) start at $6.55 you can try to negotiate a higher pay if you have a few years experience and thats a stretch. Even if you do request a higher rate of pay they will only give you a few hours like 9-15 to keep your salary down. NO ONE GET 40hrs and if you do you have to beg your associates for their hours. Even then they probably can't afford to not work and give them to you.

If whatever it is that they offer you isn't already the minimum amount that is required by law, then you can count on getting some form of paycut after you've already started the job. Most of them come in the form of switches to commission and "incentive" plans. There have been two years of pay cuts so far, and they still haven't ended.

They have plenty of statistical data on what sales are and are very careful to make sure the switch to commission reduces the payroll substantially. About 10% will make nothing at all (yes I have seen plenty of folks 2 week paychecks for $0.00), 80% will make somewhere around minimum wage or even less than that, and the last 10% will either make what they used to make, or more. They use that top 5% to inspire everyone else about what's possible in the job, but remember that it is statistically impossible for for than 5 people out of every 100 to be in the top 5%. They will try to tell you that everyone can do it though, and then blame the lower 95% for not producing more.

Executive management knows from crunching years worth of numbers though exactly what people are capable of, and conveniently set the rewards just out of the reach of almost everyone. From experience I can tell you- if the Sears job pays any kind of commission, then don't walk away from it- run. I finally quit my job there and (if you haven't noticed) I still feel as though I was cheated out of a part of my life. If I had agreed to work for nothing then that would be different, but they told me lie after lie just to keep me working there.
