I just applied at Sears and scheduled my interview for Thursday? My question is what questions i will be asked, and what other stuff they do? BTW its not a management position i went for, i'm just a 17 year old looking for a part time job. |

All retail stores ask pretty generic questions. Tell me about yourself... Do you have reliable transportation to work? Do you mind working weekends? What would you do if your car broke down and you were scheduled to work that day? Are you a people person? Etc... |

I had one of the worst interviews I have ever had at Sears. Two kids interviewed me asking me questions like where do you see yourself in 5 years. I felt like saying, NOT HERE!! Very unprofessional. |

For the question: "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" They want to know more about you, like your goals, and how long you plan to work with them. So to answer that question, a good answer would be something like... "I'd like to see myself working in this company or environment. I would maybe like to look into management of this company because I'm very good in leadership and taking part in responsibilities" ect. They DO NOT want to hear "Married with my boyfriend and have kids!" or "I see this as a stepping stone to a better job". I did my 1st part of the interview process today. She was very nice and laid back, so the interview was a breeze. lol She had this paper and had to fill it out about me. There were questions on it that she needed to ask. A lot of them were wanting me to give examples of how I achieved my goals in previous jobs. One question asked, "How do you know when you got the job finished"... Then she started laughing and said, "Uh duh when the work is done" lol (See what I mean about laid back? lol) But anyway, I laughed and said, "Yeah, that makes sense. Haha.. Well I like to see the customer happy and satisfied" ect. Some more examples were:
Stuff like that.. There were a lot of "goal" questions when I did my interview today. Also what helped me was when she mentioned that I never worked as a cashier (this comes in handy if you are inexperienced as well) I responded "No I haven't worked as a cashier yet. However, I am a really fast learner and I'm very eager to work here. So I can catch on fairly quick." At the end of the interview, she said she might move me from part time position to a full time manager of the shoe department because she brought up how I'm a fast learner. lol So yay.. because that's what I want. =) |
