From associates that have worked at Siemens in El Paso TX I hear that the supervisors resign after a few months. Difficult place to work for and high stress.

I am just reporting that that supervisors dont last working in the el paso branch and the reason is a lot of hours and high stress. Just look and see how much management has changed in the past year, they are always hiring new supervisors :)

There is a lot of discrimination with this company. Anything other than white does not go anywhere. I know someone who has worked there for over 10 years, black and with several degrees and still can't get anywhere. Terrible management.

If that is the case, can you explain why Siemens Energy and Automation has many high level people of Indian decent? As an example Vice President Raj Batra? His complexion is much darker than a lot of the black people you refer to.

This all very interesting....I just got an email from Siemens Automation group requesting a phone interview for their Account Manager position...how likely is it that I may get a request for an in person interview, assuming the recruiter understands that I meet most if not all the qualifications?

I really hate to hear people speak of being denied a promotion as a result of race. The first thing I would do is try to understand if there are other reasons for being looked over. Perhaps there are some personality differences that need to be hashed out. Blaming these things on race tneds to pigeon hole us and brand us in a very negative light.

OE--I don't work at Siemens but as far as race goes, people have negative or positive attitudes not necessarily based on skin color but on perceptions of ethnic groups as a whole (the same can be said for gender, attractiveness, and weight). Maybe what your friend is seeing is true but then again there may be a whole lot of factors your friend didn't tell you about. I agree with Nan. Tell him to get a job elsewhere. I've done that before and it's the best thing that ever happened to me--socially, professionally and financially (especially financially!!). Life's too short to stick around and deal with crap.

Excuse me, but this is a forum where people are permitted to speak their minds. It's peoplelike you, who chastise and call people names, that make work environments sick. Try being nice.

Experienced a very strong racial bias at SE&A in GA(in my opinion); To address your question, often the channel from which a person is hired gives them a certain position within the company, as an Indian & a VP your example would have greater political & economic coverage. Also, the executive level is often focused on results and will avoid silly games if money is being made. Discrimination is not just against skin color but mostly against cultures (black, white, brown, young, old, gray, slim, fat, cool, geeks and so on) & produces covert xenophobia as well.
As long a people allow the social engineers to classify & individuals fail to have the integrity to make selection not based on feelings, lack of experience or what's seen on T.V.; we’ll have this problem.

Agreed. What many of you are experiencing is probably real equality, which means you are not accepted because of your race or color and at the same time, they can reject you the same as they might anyone else for any other reason.

Did you know that by definition, bigotry includes people who expect to be treated badly because of their race? In essence if you believe so strongly that people of your culture are being downtrodden then that is being a bigot - a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices.

Racial bias goes both ways. If your first reaction to a failure to get a job/promotion is that it must be because of your race, then you are as much a bigot as the person who excludes you because of your race.
