I was wondering if anyone could answer some questions I have about Southwest.
1. How are the schedules done at SWA? -- I worked at SkyWest Airlines for a minute as a ramp agent and couldn't fit the monthly schedule bidding procedure into my life. I am in school and have part-time job, so I had the roughest time trying to fit the weekly assigned split shifts (S=4pm-12am; M-TH=8am-12pm/5pm-9pm)into my life. (I couldn't go out or have a life if I wanted hours, I also couldn't work at my other job, besides one day a week.
2. What are the flight benefits? SkyWest's benefits really only applied to SkyWest operated flights (United Express/Delta Connection), where the privileges sucked. -- Does SWA allow you to buy tickets at a discounted rate? Do you get free (guaranteed) tickets?
3. How long is the training and can you pick where you go? At SkyWest, you can either train in Salt Lake City, Utah or Denver, Colorado, I got SLC which was interesting. It was one week and tedious. I wanted to explore, but we had to be in "school" 8-5pm the entire week.
