I've had two interviews with Spherion over the last few years and it's the same excuse with each one-- I'm not qualified enough. I can accept that but supposedly they've read my resume beforehand; my resume clearly shows my strengths. If they didn't feel I had enough experience, why waste my time (calling off work, risking my current job) to drive such a far distance to tell me this? I never put anything false on my application so why interview me for something I'm clearly not experienced? I get my hopes up only to have them smashed after the interview. I don't know if it's just an excuse because they don't find the personality fits but just be up front about it! I wanted to reach across the desk and strangle the recruiter if only he'd have known the troubles I had gone thru to get to this interview.

It's two different stories here...I get an email from someone in a different office saying my resume is a perfect match then get set up with someone completely different who says I needed such and such experience. Ridiculous. Learn how to run a company. Don't waste your time here.

The reason you are getting two interviews is because Spherion and The Mergis Group has a management staff that enforces a metrics system like Robert Half. These companies are not career consultants or recruiters just information takers. They have to have 10-15 interviews per week and 10-15 hours of time on the phone. So instead of them meeting you and then spending time finding you a match, they have to do a cattle call of candidates. Then, log them in, then the call your references for business leads. This model does not give them time to find you anything and they are just hoping something comes in that matches your background. Do not go in unless they tell you they have a position that fits your background. When they do call you in, expect to speak about the position and client that they had in mind for you. Use this model for all staffing agencies. Knowing this now, call them and say, hey, I meet with you and how is things going with my search? Hope this was helpful!
