Every business has its own style. What is the office environment and culture like at Sterling Savings Bank?

Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers?

What is a typical day in the life of an employee at Sterling Savings Bank?

What is a typical day in the life of an employee at Sterling Savings Bank?

The typical day in the life of an employee at Sterling Savings Bank is stressful and uncertain. The atmosphere is tense and lacking trust. Nine months before the FDIC issued Cease and Desist order employees were assured by "management" that Sterling was still a solid, stable, and growing bank. I'm sure the 20 people laid off from the loan department in a morning meeting were shocked to lose their jobs due to no fault of their own.

Business casual Fridays are more like propaganda days where employees buy Sterling logo clothing to be able to participate. Open toe shoes were only recently (and un-officially) "approved" attire in the Sterling dress code. And be sure to steer clear of the fashion police if you wear more than two rings, have tattoos-even hidden ones (unless you have an AVP or higher in your title), or can't afford to buy designer clothes because those ladies aren't always so kind. By the way, don't ever get caught with microwave popcorn as the fashion police also play the popcorn police. Maybe if they had actual work to do they wouldn't have time to complain about other people or spend excessive amounts of time in the ladies room touching up their makeup.

Happy hours are a thing of the past and have been replaced by "gritch sessions" you people you think are your friends or appointments with a therapist.

This is not a happy place, not an honest place, and not a place any smart person would choose to spend 40 hours a week. Do something lifesaving for yourself and stay away from here.
