What are the average starting salaries, bonuses, benefits and travel requirements like at Stryker?

This depends on the job... An average sales rep probably earns a base of $70K with med, dental, and vision. With commission the typical sales guy makes about $250K. The top performers make $400K-$500K a year.

For your project managers (a good entry level job) your salary will depend on your experience. If you have a strong background in leadership you'll probably start at around $70K. Bonuses in this position are low.... but you can move directly to sales from here after about 2 years.

Other jobs pay different amounts.

Stock Options (depending on just how good you are)

what about design or manufacturing engineers?
my husband just finished his degree, but has been working at a lower tier medical instruments company for 7 years,
the past 4 have been in engineering/designing, which included managing the other designers.

For a non-managerial position in Mahwah, NJ he'd start around $65K-$70K plus bonus (possibly a little above this range because he has so many years experience). For a managerial position, it would be around $100K plus bonus. I don't know about Michigan, but maybe a bit less.
