I never saw an employee that was happy working at Sun Trust Bank. I can tell you from my inside experience, from the branch manager to the teller, they all hated their job.
The reason why is unknown to upper management. Here is the inside scoop. THE COMPANY POLICY IS TO HIRE ONLY WOMEN TO BRANCH MANAGEMENT POSITIONS. More than 90%. Sun Trust Bank is primarily interested in hiring minorities. This gives them special deals with the government to open new branches. If you are a good candidate, that happens to be a white male, you will be hired, abused, and fired! Period! Sun Trust does not want to hire permanent full-time white males. From middle management on down, white males are despised.
Minorities are a great asset. However, branch managers at Sun Trust are subtly taught in training classes to hate white males. This causes a huge turnover at this bank. Sometimes it is more than 40%. Most branches will only have one white male working there and approximately 10 women and minorities. I think it's great that the other people are there, but the point is that you will be ostracized and fired according to the culture that is handed down through the Area Manager to the Branch Manager. Again, it is an organization run only by women.
If you are happy with that, then apply. You will make a moderate amount of pay and be subjected to the worst management techniques available. No manager care about you. They don't care about your performance. Management cares only about the overall branch performance and keeping the area manager happy who is probably a woman. Sun Trust does not award payment based on performance! You will make about zero a month on commissions. About two months, you will make 100 dollars for commissions.
My advive for new hires is this;
1. FROm THE BEGINNING DOCUMENT THE PROBLEMS YOU SEE IN THE BRANCH AND REPORT TO HUMAN RESOURCES!
2. THE BRANCH MANAGER IS NOT YOUR FRIEND, BUT YOUR ADVERSARY!
