Dumped in 2006 in Minneapolis, Minnesota 61 months ago |
Supervalu bought out most of Albertson's in 2006 and once again has a huge amount of debt. During a lengthy review process, the company chose which warehouses, computer systems and personnel to dump. Between October and December of 2006 the company eliminated almost 1300 IT personnel. The company stock seems to be doing okay, but in many ways I'm glad to have been among the 1300 dumped late last year. Those remaining have got to be wondering whether their job will be among those destined to go to the newly formed "Supervalu India" division. |

IT outsourcing to India is happening through out US companies. It is assumed that functions deemed "support" are non-core or non-value added and can be done cheaper in India. Eventually costs in India will rise and the value will be gone. Next stop China and Africa will be the ultimate low cost place. Advantage in Africa is that the English language is spoken because of the historic British presence in prior centuries. The US better wake up or we are going to have a lot of unemployed US folks. |

I got a call from Supervalu Idaho (HQ) to interview on the phone for a position. The day of the interview the person never called me. |
