Do you work at Swift Transportation? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview?

Any advice for someone trying to get in?

My advise is don't get in.

People that advance only do so, beacause of the people they know.

I have been here for 10 yrs, and am still at the bottom. But I am now to old to speak up or go elswhere.

i woror the highway department and we have a "list" of the worst drivers on our highways, and i don't know what it is about the Swift truck drivers, but they have become the most inconsiderate and mean drivers as far as tractor/trailers! I've been a "trucker" for 25 years, and I remember a time when the truckers were the nicest people out there! You could count on them, trust them, and they were always friendly. believe me, Swift isn't alone. There are few carriers that are considerate anymore, but Swift is it the top of our list. Is it a corperate thing, a safety issue, or what?

swift transportation is a great company to drive for. i know there is alot of bad media about them, but that is true for all large businesses and companies. i have driven for many years and companies and swift is one of the best. swift also has great benefits and opportunities for advancement.
if you dont have your class a license, you can go to a swift driving acadamy and get it there, or if you already have your class a cdl, you can go to a terminal near you and get in that way. i applied online and that worked great for me. i applied at swift.drivers-central.com/ and i was called in minutes. they got me set up to work out of the swift terminal in memphis tenn, and i love it. they have comfort zones that you can stay in if you want to stay closer to home instead of driving all over the country. truck driving is a great career, i get to see the country and do what i love to do - drive!

If you all really want to know about Swift? You can ask me. I was involved in that meat market of employees. Again the company has the potential to hire good drivers however some of the people when they get to management they fire who they don't like instead of praising people for their strong points and helping them with their week. I believe that the CEO has a good concept of hiring, training, and working drivers however do it the right way instead of pushing them through the system. Also get rid of the managers that bring cancer to the organization. Some of these guys are having affairs, and some are hiring their relatives. Can you say nepatism? Cousins, nephews, brother n laws. You may have something to say about an employee and guess what you are talking to their cousin or something. Next thing you know your job is on the line. Unfortunetly their are some good people that work for Swift and I feel sorry for them. Maybe because they may not have anywhere else to go. That company needs prayer and maybe some company kimo to rid the cancer.....

Hey I live in LA and I worked for Swift in Fontana at one time....I heard the same thing about managers doing managers. Problem is they should hire managers for their brains and knowledge and not their ass....ets. I have heard stories. Some stories I need not mention on the net. I would need to go to a porn room and chat about it. Politics, politics. There is more going on in a Swift truck then just delivering freight com on. They even have made up acronymns for SWIFT (Sex With Indignate Female Trucker) Not a good place....

This is for the guy that is from Fontane Ca or anyone who works for swift transportation in California. I'm a female and have spoke to a recuiter I've been wanting to do trucking for a long time now and I'm trying to figure out if its really worth going into? I'm seeing alot of negative s**t about Swift. If you in Cali are you making good money working for them, is the pay good, are you constant on getting work, is the management that bad to deal with that for a female it wouldn't be worth going into? Somebody please let me know.

Swift is a good place to start but a lot of companies like that will train you and you have to work for them for a lower pay for a contracted amount of time. I worked for Henderson trucking out of IL and Kuntzman in Ohio. I am also a female and to be honest I do not miss the harassment. I am small and thin and it was hell to say the least. No respect even as an Owner Op.

I worked for Swift for 7 years! I am not working there now because " I " messed up. I didn't wreck, I didn't steal. I got caught up with a woman!
I will tell you honestly and from the heart. Don't listen to the belly acher's anywhere about Swift.
It is a great company to work for, the benefits aren't any worse than anywhere else, and yes they will keep you busy VERY busy. IF you are there to work!
There are too many terminal rats that sit at each terminal waiting for only what they want. Then complain because they aren't making money.
I would go back tomorrow if they would let me!!!!
I Loved Swift!
