I applied for a job at this call center earlier this year and they called and asked some questions over the phone kind of like a first interview. I was told I passed that and they offered to have me come to an "orientation session" where I would walk around with a supervisor, listen to calls and be given a grand tour of the place along with having an HR rep do a presentation of benefits and pay etc. I went to that and was asked to come back for a final interview. I came back (was supposed to have an interview with an HR representative). I had an appointment at 1pm and arrived at about 12:40pm. I waited and waited until about 1:40pm when two people who looked at 20 years old called me into a room and said they had to interview me because the interviewer couldn't show to work today. Ok fine. They asked me questions that had already been asked to me and I answered them in the same way, the interview seemed to go great and they said I would receive a call (HR told me I would receive the news that day). They told me they had never interviewed before and they were just filling in for someone else but to be patient with them during the process. I got no phone calls or anything and two weeks later received a postcard in the mail saying thanks for applying but other candidates met their needs better. I couldn't figure out for the life of me why I wouldnt get hired, got along with everyone, lots of customer service and call center experience etc. I then saw a month later that they had requested my credit report without asking me or even telling me and I had signed absolutely nothing, is this legal? I had 3 medical bills on there that the hospital failed to bill my insurance co for so I didnt even know they existed (they totaled 12,000) which were taken care of now that I noticed them. I am just wondering if this is legally something someone can do if you aren't aware and didn't give them permission? |

When you signed permission for a background check, that should have included a credit report. I think it's part of the fine print. |

The documentation you signed does indeed include a clause for credit report and criminal history in the background check. This is very standard for employers, especially when you will have the opportunity to directly have a company account or deal with monetary transactions of any variety (electronic). Try again with Human Resources, and best of luck! |

Does anyone know how I can get the number for the recruiter or at least the name of the recruiter to put on my cover letter? Thanks! |
