Do Yourself a Favor...NEVER work for Target...

Target is one of those companies that it is great to shop at, but you don't want to work there. For starters, most of the managers or Executives/Store Team Leaders are drones...they don't think at all, they just read whatever comes through emails and they walk out to the floor and try to enforce it. Most people have no idea what they are doing, but because they are mindless, upper management loves them. Also, that company prides itself on guest service, but it has the worst guest service policies in retail. If you ever buy anything from Target, make sure you keep your receipt!!

The only way to get around in that company is to know someone at the top. No one cares about you, but you, regardless of what they tell you. I was at the company as an Executive Team Lead for 3 years and they only offered the training modules that I needed to advance to the next paygrade ONCE. Then once I completed them all, I continuously asked how I was to go about advancing to the next paygrade, as after 3 years, I was still at entry level, and no one could tell me.

Right before I left my store, we had gotten a new store manager. She was the worst store manager I had ever seen!! Not only did she not know what she was doing, she just was completely clueless on how to even run a store. First, she came in and she took sides--that is, she created this clique of smokers. I swear to you, they went outside 5 or 6 times a day to take 10-15 minute smoke breaks. When she came back in, there was no plan, there was no meeting...she just grabbed a cart and walked around the store putting mischellaneous items in it. What kind of store manager is that? There was no direction, and I really felt like I had cart attendants that could do a better job.

From what I understand, the only reason she got that position is because she had a relative who was a regional/group manager. When I left, that store was in the worst shape I had ever seen. Do yourself a favor and don't work at TARGET!!
