Don't do it!!! I was a high profile Store Team Leader in CA and 1 1/2 years later was term'd. I was in the industry for 20 years and have never been mistreated so badly. I managed a high volume unit in CA and a directive came down through HR that if there were any hot-line complaints from stores to "extinguish" the issue. These calls are frequent in all stores for various reasons and I had 7 (of 300 employees), with one even stating to the company something about organizing a union because pay was poor. Of these 7, they all hung out together outside of work and 5 were on corrective action. HR supervisor, Robert Fickle, came in to investigate with another person who's entire purpose was to get rid of any comment with the word "union" in it - Target is scared of this word. They talked with these 7 and concluded I created an "environment that people don't want to work in". No Best Team Survey (of which my previous one was 98%); no talking to all of my 9 Executive staff; no talking to the other 293ish people; no talking to my District Team Leader who is in the store plenty...nothing. After an hour or so, they concluded I needed to be gone. I did Group campus recruiting for Southern California, was thought of promotable from the Group DTL's and my peers, but these 7 were all they needed to end my employment. Since I've been gone, the Zone VP, Group VP, District AP, Group AP all "disappeared" and most of my peers are gone to other Big Box retailers. Target is going through a "corporate" political internal struggle of who has more power - operations who produce the profit or HR who are the "force" in the company.
