Don't believe anything they tell you, until they actually get you an interview.
If they cannot find you a job within two weeks of your inquiry, you'll never hear from them again. Don't believe they keep your resume in a database.

That's not my experience at all. I've had recruiters contact me after several months of inactivity with positions that have advanced my career quite well.
