Do you work at Texas Workforce Commission? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview?

Any advice for someone trying to get in?

Go in for testing, they will help format and create a resume and cover letter. There locations are online at the website. Call for an appointment, they say you do not need to but sometimes the onsite computers are busy and you wait and wait and....

Best of luck in finding a position soon. CB

Don't wait by the phone expecting employment counselors to return your messages for employment advice - they will not do it, and are not that helpful when you call back and finally get someone. Listening to what the caller is saying is not a skill here - if you make a statement about your status, you will repeat it 10 seconds later in response to their question.

I do work for TWC and my advice is to register in WorkInTexas.com because you can only apply for an open position. The program also allows you to complete your State of Texas application online and the only thing that you will have to change on the form is the posting number, the agency name and the closing date of the posting. I recommend that jobseekers put in the area they wish to work in under the matching options section of the program you can choose your location, up to 5 different ones.
That way you can look to see what is available in the areas you may be interested in. I might also suggest that potential jobseekers contact the local Workforce Center in the area. Hope this was helpful.

The only advice I might offer is to not give up. Keep trying. Sometimes the agencies specifications are hard to comply with. For example: One agency I applied for required 3 applications. They only had one..mine. They had to repost the position per law. Dont get discouraged.
