I had a strange experience with Thomson. I applied for a position through their website. Six weeks later I got an email from the hiring manager requesting a phone interview. After going through that I had a face-to-face interview with the hiring manager a week later. She acted very interested and said she would be getting back to me about going further in the process and then I never heard from her again. I sent an email to see the status but I never got a reply back. Very wierd.

I had the same experience. They didn't seem to be that well organized and the HR person didn't even understand the job they were recruiting for. They need to better qualify candidates before they waste everyone's time with in person interviews.

Thats not a strange experience. People in the staffing/employment industry are among the rudest of them all. They're right down there in the slime pits with car salesmen.

They ultimate in hypocrisy is that they DEMAND "excellent verbal and written communication skills" YET they can not demonstrate that in the least bit.

ALL STAFFING FIRMS LIE. Thats point number one which you need to accept. They post "ghost jobs" in an effort to lure you into their database. They're database is all they care about. They have no other need for you, except the here or there placement. They HATE IT when you call, email or show up in their office looking for answers. They do NOT know how to address people in a civil way. They lie, they cheat and they lie again.

Here's a tip, if you want to find a job then contact the company directly. STEER CLEAR of ALL staffing firms!

I used to be employeed with Thomson Healthcare, which is located in Montvale, NJ. I can tell you from my past experience that unfortunately, the HR department is very disorganized, which is largely due impart because most of them are contract-employees. Thomson as a whole, is also going through yet, another, re-organization and therefore they aren't sure where they are headed - senior/upper management keeps changing. However, on the bright-side, the company is, overall, a good company. It is solid, has great benefits, as well as great vacation/holiday/time off. The downside (for me) was that my manager had no clue of what he was doing and I felt that I wasn't paid a salary compatible with my knowledge-base, experience, and for the amount of hours I worked - too many last minute fire drills at the 11th hour.

If certain management were to leave, I would go back in a heartbeat!

P.S. Curious to know which positions you are applying for - perhaps I can give you some inside info :)

The reason that Thomson's HR department is so horrible is because it is farmed out. The recruiter you speak with does not work for Thomson. This doesn't change when hired either, the people you speak with regarding human resources are not Thomson employees and have a general idea of how the company works but are not much help and are unable to answer any detailed questions. Thomson does have a small staff of HR but it is difficult to find the correct person to speak with and get questions answered.
