What are the average starting salaries, bonuses, benefits and travel requirements like at Thomson? What do you like best about working at Thomson? Are there any great perks or special treats for employees? |

There are not perks at Thomson, they have not figured out how to value employees...becuase of their size, you may assume that they have the means to show value through bonus', stock options, etc....they don't offer anything special to any employees below Sr., Sr., management. They are VERY TOP HEAVY!! When there is a shack up, they slice the workers, and move the managers around, but they never cut at top.... |

Starting salaries are well below industry averages, bonuses are usually insignificant, unless you're senior management. Benefits are pretty good. Unless you're senior management, you're really not going to get much out of Thomson. Everyone that works there is pretty much looking for a new job/a way out. |

I'm looking at a sales position, is all of the above true for sales as well? And I know there are alot of divisions to Thomson, I've interviewed with Tax and Accounting and have a telephone interview with LiveNotes on Friday. All of your feedback it greatly appreciately. |

I have an interview tomorrow and all I've seen are negative comments about Thompson. Do have any feedback since your last comment? |

Wasn't looking for more negative feedback, just reality feedback... did you get the job? are you satisfied with the salary and benefits? Is the work environment good for you? Can you see yourself working there until you retire? Regards, Rich Yes Thomson... thanks! |

As an employee of Thomson for ten years, I will say that it's kind of uncanny the comments made about "top heavy" and "benefits to senior management." I tend to agree. And while I can't speak for other divisions, I can say that within my division everyone's looking to get out. With that said, this could be anywhere as well. To those looking at the company, take the negative with the positive, look at the position, and ask the tough questions. Stuff like the Reuters acquisition seems to make the company look good, but unfortunately the negative comments hit home. So take the good with the bad. |

I live in Nashville, TN and I received a call from a Recruiter from Thomson Corp. From I have researched on the Internet there must be a new office opening in Nashville or Franklin. Based on the comments above I'm having doubts about the company. Does anyone have any questions for me to ask during an interview? What should be me approach? Any ideas or recommendations? Has anybody been mislead by what was said in an interview or even after the interview? I'd like to know if there are any positive comments too. |

I have interviewed for a Property Tax Consultant and went through 3 interviews as well. The recruiter told me they are interested in me, but they would not hire anyone for another month. Also, he asked me to check in with him to let him know where I am in my job search. Is that the typical process? This tax group office was acquired by Thomson Tax & Accounting from Deloitte in September 2007. Do you know

Oh yeah, I'm 54. The majority of the employees I met were much younger... I was eventually informed that I was "too experienced". |
