What are the average starting salaries, bonuses, benefits and travel requirements like at TIAA-CREF?

Long hours, oncall all the time, poorly trained people to work with. Upper management decides who gets bonus money and dictates to managers depending on who they like. Problems rarely resolved or causes known so they reoccur.

TIAA pays well. Much better than the banks in Charlotte or brokers. Can't speak to their NY or other branch salaries.

Just like anywhere, there are pockets of incompetence and frustration with leadership, but most workers are competent and truly care about what they do. Strangely, the perception of incompetence is more prevailent than any actual incompetence I've seen.

TIAA was a gravy train for a long time and there are plenty of ex-employees who were pushed off the teat that are unhappy that the brakes were put on their gravy train. This is not to say that there isn't any problem with leadership at TIAA, but no more than any other place I've seen.
