Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at TIAA-CREF?

Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers?

What is a typical day in the life of an employee at TIAA-CREF?

The New York and Charlotte offices are much more formal than the Denver location, even there it's business casual most of the time.

not really, Charlotte is business casual most of the time. I went to NY for a business conference and people asked me why I was dressed up... for the conference I was wearing a shirt and tie, assuming NY was more fromal then Charlotte/Denver.

the company as a whole is business casual... only the higher-ups are fromally dressed.

Should of posted this in TIAA-CREF Salaries, Bonuses and Benefits... but oh well..

It depends;
BTW, you never said what job so no one can give you a salary range.
I would look up salary ranges for that position on Monster... T-C will give you a number and it may and may not be in that range... (Most likely it will low-balled)

Also... don't worry about a salary until you get a second and possibly third interview request...
They offer competitive salaries, but negotiations are up to you. Series 7, 24 will help in negotiations… it seems as if they don’t really care about college degree (hiring people with GED’s).. unless the position you apply for specifically says bachelors of (whatever)...

Good luck… Let us know what happens!

yeah, i know i posted in the wrong place sorry! i did interview on the phone w/ the recruiter. It was alright i guess, she was reading from a script, i could tell. Lasted about 20 mins and at the end she quized me about the IRA contribution limits, 401ks, and changes in the pension act of 2006....didn't expect the questions especially the pension one, but it's been a while since i interviewed for a job. said they would call back within a week if interested and today is friday-no call yet. oh well.....
