Do you work at Treasury, Internal Revenue Service (IRS)? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview? Any advice for someone trying to get in? |

ATTN: IRS Job Applicants!
I been with the Service 20+ years-before the Web, so I started by apllying for Federal Civil Service by way of the State of Florida Job Service. Nowadays the web site above is a good place to start. Had I knew then what I know now, to really get places in IRS, having college level accounting is a huge plus. Figure on 6 semester hour credits in accounting bare minimum. Good people skills are a MUST, as are computer skills. With BHO running things now things are looking up hiring wise. Give a shot, and good luck. |

I applied at the IRS for a Contact Representative via the www.usajobs.gov website. About 3 weeks later I received an email with three test to take. In the email it stated that if I didn't pass the first test I wouldn't advance to the next text. I passed the test and about two weeks later they sent me an email with a date and time to go to a finger printing session. My appt is scheduled for next week. They also do a three year tax check to verify you are in compliance with the tax laws. |
