I am a former Tyco employee and left in 2001. Best thing that could of happened to me.
Stay away from Tyco Electronics. They have literally laid people off every single month for the past several months. They are closing most U.S. plants. Many of my former friends and co-workers are now gone. Morale is horrible.

Also the company is highly age discriminatory. As soon as you hit your 40's in that company you are very likely to be targeted for layoff. I know over 2 dozen people who were in their 40's (and over) who were laid off. Not a coincidence.

There are better companies out there who will appreciate your skills. Try Foxconn, Amphenol or Molex if you have strong engineering skills.
