What are the average starting salaries, bonuses, benefits and travel requirements like at Us Remodelers?

What do you like best about working at Us Remodelers? Are there any great perks or special treats for employees?

Unless you're working in the office, you'll be paid straight commission for sales. You cover a 60-100 mile radius, at least in the Phila market. They pay you an additional $50 for gas and tolls per job sold if it gets approved. They are continually hiring sales reps due to the high attrition rate. If you get bad leads, you're not going to make any money. Even if you can sell the job, a large percentage get cancelled for financing, especially in this economic climate. You get 10% commission (20% if you generate your own lead) minus a 50% reverse split of any difference for under charging a job. If you short a job by $500, you lose $250 of your commission. (The minimum commission is $200.) Average sale in this market is $8500 with a $2000 minimum for refacing. You absorb all travel and other related costs. Leads come from a number of sources and are generally unqualified. Sources include Home Depot mailers, website ( better quality) or from in-store promotion (ISP) activities. You are given your leads via E-mail late night early morning for the next day. You do not get the customer's phone number and can only reach the customer throught the national call center in Florida (like sitting on hold?), and only if you have to cancel or are running late.

ISPs get paid differently. Some work for marketing companies, other for USR. USR pays $10/hr plus a bonus if you get 10 or more demo leads per month. The come on is "a FREE in home estimate", as if its a limited time offer. When I was a rep almost 50% of my leads cancelled, many were "lights out" when I got there, sometimes driving over fifty miles. They intentionally lead the customer to believe refacing is inexpensive. Most are shocked at the price.
