They were supposed to contact me within 72 hours as well, but I received no call or email regarding the position. I did email the recruiter with no response. The class that I applied for is in March and I was the first person interviewed. So the class is still 3 months out. I think I'm going to call and see if I get better results. the website still says my interview is in progress. If I didn't get the job I would think it would show declined or something. |

can you explain what type of math questions you are refereing to? Math is my weakness and I want to be prepaired. Also, what type of analytical questions? Did you actually interview with anyone? |

There was a percent change question as far as math is concerned pretty basic things, the analytical question was like Matt paid more than Elijah, but less than John..that part was fairly difficult. I haven't interviewed with anyone face-to-face. I just finished my phone interview like a half hour ago. I think it went well, but you never know! |

leahmarvin16 in Scottsdale, Arizona said: Sammie, Sorry I was not online to answer your question , how did you do with the assessment? MY math was mostly percentages. I also had word association questions, directional questions, analytical questions like one company did more business than another and so on which one deserved tickets to a game..there was also a timed call center part where you listened to customers call in and do orders which you had to type the answers quickly then take call after call.. Finally there was a section with questions about your personality, how you would handle situations etc.. |

I had a phone interview on Dec 16th and have yet to hear anything! I called the recruiter and allegedy she sent my contact info to the phone interviewer, but that was last Monday! My status still says interview in progress..so maybe all is not lost! The class starts Jan 25th perhaps there is still a chance. But I thought it was odd that my phone interview lasted for like 2 minutes...is that everyone else's experience? |

That was set up for Dec. 22nd which also went great. It lasted about 30 min. Then the recruter said I was going to be scheduled for the final interview in a few days. She called on wed. to set that up (24th). So, my face to face final interview is Jan. 6. I have already been sent for my drug test and started the back ground check. I got a call on Friday asking some speciifics about our home based business. Thats it so far. The background process is a bit nerve wracking. They really dig deep. But, I have nothing to hide so I'm not worrieed. what about you? Where are you at in the process? I was told by my recruter taht the January class is full and I will have to attend the Feb. or March Class. Argh! |

Does anyone know if USAA will let you know immediately after your second phone interview if you have moved on to the last stage? And does it necessarily mean that you did not get accepted if you are told they will contact you in a couple of days? |
|
leahmarvin16 in Scottsdale, Arizona 41 months ago |
what stage are you refering to? when you say second interview, do you mean your face to face interview. After I have my assessment, they told me I passed and set up an appointment for a phone interview. Then after the phone interview was finished she said I had made it to the next stage and they would call in a day or two with the managers schedule to set up the final face to face. That was tuesday for me. They told me as I was sitting down before the interview even started that the "turn around time", meaning time before they let you know if you are hired or not, was about 1 week. But, I found out today that they didn't even finish my background check until today, so I am assuming that is why they waited. hope that helps. |

Does anyone know USAA's standard for credit scores? I know someone that did not get hired for it even though he said he had good credit. Is it possible his score was average and USAA requires above average? |
|
leahmarvin16 in Scottsdale, Arizona 40 months ago |
I made it through the whole interview process all the way to the end with really poor credit. I don't think it is that important. |
|
Charger71 in Surprise, Arizona 40 months ago |
Ok thanks...that's good. I'm just thinking that the person I know may have something negative on their report that they're not aware of; who knows. Personally I am in the process of applying and have a high score, but when someone says something you hadn't thought of, it makes you start wondering:) |

Does anyone know the work hours for an associate claims adjuster? When the job listing was posted it read 8-5 but now i was told is anywhere from 7am-7pm? If anyone knows the starting salary as well it would be great. THX |

Good luck to you. From the other people's comments I get that they ask you more in depth questions. Like "What does loyalty mean to you and give an example?" "Where do you see yourself in five years?" some kind of role play as well. I myself haven't even made it that far yet. What are some of the questions you received for the 2nd phone interview? It would greatly be appreciated. Do you know when training starts because I am also applying for the associates claims adjuster. |

They asked me a lot of scenario based questions. Stuff like "Describe a time when you went above and beyond for a customer." "Describe a time when you couldn't do what the customer wanted." Typical customer service type interview questions. These type of questions will be on the phone interview and face to face interview. Make sure you have a couple scenarios to plug into all the customer interaction questions. Be prepared to counter their rebuttals as well. |

I have been scheduled for my final face-to-face interview. How soon after that interview will they let you know if you got the job? |
|

jsfasu in San Antonio, Texas said: I have been scheduled for my final face-to-face interview. How soon after that interview will they let you know if you got the job? It normally takes about a week if they have already started your background check before the interview. If not, it could take longer if they are waiting on the results of that. |

after the final face-to-face interview, if you are offered something is it usually a call or a letter or email? |
|
USAA_RULES in San Antonio, Texas 39 months ago |
You will get an email if you failed or you will receive a call if you made it. They are hiring like crazy for call centers from what I know. So for those of you just looking for a job after a layoff, start there; this is a great place if you play your cards right. |

I applied and they said I was not qualified. That seemed odd because I hold 20 plus years in the insurance fiels and have also work with client service and even as a manager in client service. I went throught Workforce here in Tampa and even got refered to them by the VA Rep. Very Odd. I don't know what to say or do at this point. It seems to me that military people don't have a big chance. |

I'm with you (I was a 24 year veteran). I passed all assessments, background, and the phone interview, but then was told I "just missed" newest class. So I waited a month for the final interview. After the interview, I was told after a week (after I called them, not sure when they were going to let me know) that I would be a "back-up" for the upcoming class. The only clue I had was from the final interview when they seemed to be concerned that I was "over-qualified", but other than that, I was left scratching my head. Why would I spend a month and a half going through their screenings and waiting for the final interview if I wasn't serious about committing to the job? And why would they put me through all of it if they had my resume from the beginning? I'm still confused. Oh...and my brother-in-law went through the entire process as well and was told in the end that he had "bad credit"...but when he pulled the report and proved that his credit was good, then they changed their story and said that they would "be in touch" possibly for a class coming up. Of course, they never did, even though he kept trying to reach them. I was very excited about the possibility of working for this "great" company, but after dealing with them, my advice would be to be very cautious about "banking" all your efforts in them (pun intended). You may pass each test and phone interview with a "congratulations" email from them each time, but in the end could get dumped without any qualms. I'm not sure if it is a recruiting process problem or management, but something is not quite right (at least in my experience). For those of you that have made it...more power to you and congratulations. |

BE CARE FULL: I have found out that USAA is seeking customer service call center reps. Yes it true. In the state of Florida you MUST hold a 4-40 license in order to do ANY customer service work for insurance and a 2-20 to sell any of the products they offer. They do not tell you this intialy. However is you read Florida statue 621.112 part 1(A) and 1(B) this will inform you of this law.

You will go through the class when you are hired and they pay for everything. Since you will only be dealing with personal lines, they only need you to obtain your 20-44. I really don't think anyone would need a warning. =) |

In folorida: a 4-40 is only allowed to be a customer service agent. In order to due both customer service and provide othe service you need to have aq 2-20. Any questions contact the florida Insurance borad. I spoke with them yesterday about this. |

The 20-44 license, which enables you to sell and service auto, special lines and homeowner policies, is the only license needed. Every major insurance company will only require you to obtain a 20-44. There is nothing to be careful about regarding a CSR position with a major carrier. |

I would never consider for USAA after interviewing for them awhile back. The interviewer on the investment side of the house Patrick was a total jerk. I feel for the folks who have to work for this immature hot-headed tool. |

I have an interview coming up but not on the insurance side but in the IT Department as a software developer\college hire in the USAA San Antonio office. I wanted to know what I have to look forward too. Also I really want to know a range of what to expect as for as starting pay, I am a recent college grad but I also have several years of experience. With my experience I could also apply for one of the other level jobs but they approached me about this position. I guess my question is will that take that in consideration. Is the cost of living high in San Antonio? Does USAA pay enough to live comfortably in San Antonio? |
|
IT GUY at USAA in San Antonio, Texas 19 months ago |
As college hires, you could start out somewhere between 51-53K for starters, but with your experience, you can climb the ranks very fast (reaching 65K ~base only). Keep in mind that when I say 51K, that's really about 58 with total compensation (Personal Care Accounts 1k-3k, depending if you have kiddos, married), yearly bonuses (Christmas bonus (extra paycheck on Dec) and the big Executive Performance bonus (11%-18% X your salary - 25% total taxes). Also, you have PTO like crazy, you have overtime pay from levels III to II, stopping at I and above. San Antonio cost of living is cheap, dirt cheap..I bought a home at 140k (2300 sq ft) with a nice neighborhood. And as a SWE, yes, it's comfortable. I started out as a grad here too. Want to know more, him me up at samadams72@gmail.com |

Do any of you remember the smart aleck that was always talking about how great USAA is and was using the screen name :cry me a river" and whatever else he could think of? Well, I looked to see if Mark Hicks-his real name as he had it posted under his screen name, is no longer with USAA. I wonder if they booted him or if somehow the pastures weren't as green as he thought they were. Mark, if you are out there reading this; what happened to your beloved job? |

We have contractors in our department both overseas and temporary help. The overseas contractors in our area mainly do data entry and don't deal with the customers at all. We do have about 50% of the staff being contractors from employment agencies which is probably where you are seeing customer service issues. This is because they are doing member contact and they aren't USAA employees. We have a high attrition rate of these employees so they are always turning over in this area which causes them to start a new training class then more contractors leave so they have to hire other ones to take their place. See where I am going with this? |

I applied for the Claims Representative position. I was given an online assessment first. I assumed I passed that when I was given information to take my urinalysis within 24 hours and background check paperwork. Next, I was called for a phone interview, which consisted of the standard questions. Next, I received an email which had my face to face interview appointment. My interview was this pass Friday (its Saturday) and I think it went exceptionally well. I was interviewed by my potential manager's, and they were warm and friendly and made me feel comfortable. I am optimistic that I will hear from them this coming week. I have a bachelor's degree, decent call center experience, and I am a commissioned officer in the United States Army Reserve. I truly believe I would be a strong asset to the company- and would REALLY love to work for such an outstanding company with military morals. Make sure your background check paperwork is thorough and accurate, as they called me with a very specific request of a w-2 from one of my past employers- they do an extensive background check. I really hope I get a call back. I hope this helps. If you have a negative attitude, or are just looking for an easy buck, USAA is not the place for you. They take their work seriously and they treat their customer's and employees with the respect they deserve. I hope to become a part of their team. Good look to you all! I will let you know if I get the job! |
