What are the average starting salaries, bonuses, benefits and travel requirements like at United Rentals?

What do you like best about working at United Rentals? Are there any great perks or special treats for employees?

As outside sales you can do really good your 1st year, depending on the territory you work. A lot of it is how you work as well. 65k is pretty much the base salary and commission for anyone that I have worked with there and if you are that low you are not working hard. The inside positions are different and you can look forward to an hourly wage. One of the best perks is the company truck for the outside sales guys and girls. You don't have to worry about gas or insurance and what a great benefit that is now days. I don't have to travel much unless I wanted to do something like that and it still is not very often.

Not a whole lot of employee perks at the contact center, but we do have a couple things that are nice:

-free drinks (sodas, juice, coffee, tea) available to everyone

-it's ALWAYS clean, nice bathrooms, very professional environment and appearance

-employee discount plans with various retail shops and service providers (everything from cell phone carriers to flower bouquet deliveries)

-anyone manager level or above gets a blackberry and laptop from the company

Salaries seem to be pretty well based on experience to start, and the benefits package (insurance etc) hasn't let me down yet, although it's changing this year so we'll see what happens :-)
