Credit check for employment at US Airways

I am thinking of applying for a job at US Airways but their website says there is a mandatory drug test and criminal background check.

I have excellent skills for the job I am applying but my credit history is poor. I have defaulted on a credit card. will this information be used against me for the job? will defaulting on the loan disqualify me from the job?

I have no criminal record and I don't take any drugs, not even cigarettes. let me know at the earliest because my recruiter is calling me everyday to get my authorization to submit my resume to the hiring manager. if bad credit disqualifies me, then i don't want to apply.

is it legal for the company to deny employment based on poor credit?

I work at US Airways and I was also worried about the credit check. I did sign the authorization for a credit check but mt credit report shows that there was no inquiry from US Airways. I am sure by know, you have figured that out.
