Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at US Bank? Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers? What is a typical day in the life of an employee at US Bank? |

Anybody considering a career in IT at US Bank you might want to think again. This is especially true if the position is in Brookfield WI or St Paul MN. While the company can offer excellent benefits, you have to ask yourself what type of environment you want to work in. When US Bank merged with Firstar they picked up some real dreadful managers. I have never in my life seen such a dreadful leadership climate.

Erik it sounds like you have the victim mentality. If what you say is true, there was probably a reason management was treating you like this. My guess, you stink. |

As you don't know me I don't see how you can make that kind of judgement. And I'm certainly not going to get into a flame war with you as that would serve no purpose. I can tell you that I had a new job, for much more money, before I left the state, with outstanding references from previous employers...to include the VP of IT at my last employer. Do you automatically make the assumption that management is always right, especially when you don't know the details? That would surely be pretty ignorant. Then I suggest you do some homework. Read anything by Warren Bennis, Peter Drucker, Jack Welsh...into what they term is a very critical leadership crisis in this country and the effect its having on productivity and efficiency. In fact they actually rank that crisis is even more dangerous than the threat posed by terrorists. Did you know that? Somehow I doubt it. Is it a coincidence that they've had 3 very critical IT employees quit in the last 6 months? I could go on and on but juvenile flame bait like yourself isn't worth the effort. Buyer beware. Simple as that. |

BTW DB I guess you work for US Bank in Cincy. I seriously doubt you know anybody in either Brookfield or St Paul. About two weeks before I quit, and I quit, I was not fired, I had received my annual review. I had the highest ratings possible...from both supervisors and clients. The fact of the matter is that the IT department there in Brookfield is a horrible place to work. Its not quite as bad in St Paul where a number have moved to to get away from the management in Brookfield. Unfortunate that you felt compelled to speak about something you have absolutely NO clue about. |

I have been with US Bank for over 20 years now and have to say I would leave in a second if I could. US Bank has gone down hill for the last 4 years. They will hire anyone that is willing to apply....I really miss the old Firstar. |

Wow, DB in Cinncinnati- why so hostile to Erik? And Erik, blow that person's comment off- anyone who lives in Cinncinnati is putting up with the worst crime and living environment in the country- they probably have a huge stress related chip on their shoulder. I appreciate the warning you gave. |

What Erik says is the truth...
They don't care about you, just the bottom dollar, not willing to keep on good employees or pay them what they're worth, so there is turn over all the time. |

I am beginning to believe that all large corps in this country have completely lost sight of what is important to most human beings, while giving lip service to it, because you can't sell with out at least claiming to support family life, and community involvement. Thanks. |

The dress code is only critical to you if the manager doesn't like you then you have to dress very well but if you have it in goog with the mangment you can have piercings or dress how ever you want |

Eric you are so right and I couldn't wait to get out myself. They treat you like kids, take everything out of proportion and drive you crazy. All the managers are very incompetent and poppys of their managers. They are always worried about their job as well. They think US Bank is the best company to work for and they can't think of working for someone else and they think you shouldn't either. I wish I read this before I took the position. I won't advice US Bank to my enemy. |
