I filled out an application for the Member Relationship Specialist - Property & Casualty Insurance on 5/28/2010 in the Colorado Springs location, and I haven't heard anything yet. I have checked on the USAA website to see if they respond quicker on that, but it says it is still open, and I haven't heard either way from USAA if I move on in the hiring process, and no rejection letter. How do they contact you if you move on or not, and how quickly do they contact you? I really want to work for USAA, and I want to see if anyone knows if I still have a chance? |

There isn't just one position for this role. They are always hiring for it due to high turnover. They will call you if they are interested then you go in and take a grammar test. typing test and customer service test. If you pass those then they will have you do the urine test and they will do a background check. It is a long tedious process. I would say go look somewhere that you will be treated well. For this position you have to like hard core sales and being on the phone all day long with strict adherence guidelines. Good luck. |

I was recently hired at the CS USAA as a member relationship specialist. If you are weeded out from the other 1800+ applicants from that particular posting, you will receive an email (it will come to the email account you provided) and you will be asked to complete an assessment. You have 48 hours to complete the assessment once you receive the email. The CS center is hiring around 150 MSRs between now and January. So, if you don't get the email right away, don't give up. They are hiring a lot of MSRs, and you might make it into the next pool. I applied in early march, and didn't get a response email until early april. After I took the assessment, I received a phone call for a phone interview about a week later. It is a process to get hired there. I would say that as long as it says it is still open, you are in consideration for the position. It just might take awhile. |

I waited weeks to hear from USAA after my interview. I finally called and left a message reiterating my interest in the position. Not 5 minutes later I received a rejection e-mail and on the USAA careers site my status was changed to Rejected at Interview. I'm glad I took the time to interview with USAA and call them only to receive a blanket rejection. I think it's rather unprofessional. My second interview was conducted by two hiring managers who didn't really seem to know how to interview. When they found out I was a vet but not retired, one of them asked in an incredulous tone, "Why didn't you want to make a career out of it?!" What an odd question; not everyone wants to make a career out of it. I did my time, thanks, so don't look down on me. I'm a vet with 2 deployments under my belt and a bachelor degree. I also have been a customer for over 8 years. Apparently I'm good enough to take money from, but I'm not good enough to employ. I'm not so convinced that USAA really supports the troops. I'm seriously considering leaving USAA after the way I was treated throughout this interviewing process. What a slap in the face. |

The inside is definately different from the rosy pictures customers have of USAA. |

I have gathered as much from what I've read. I switched my auto insurance to another company because I don't want to keep giving my money to a company who would treat a loyal customer the way they treated me...got the same coverage for nearly half the cost. That was a blessing in disguise right there, haha. When I called USAA to cancel, of course I was asked why I was leaving. I told the truth, and the woman who took my call was extremely apologetic and embarrassed that HR blew me off. I told her I wished there were more people in HR and upper management like her; that is, someone who genuinely cares and acts professionally. The two hiring managers I spoke to said they'd been there 21 and 28 years. I was asked a barrage of questions about what customer service is. Apparently they're out of touch with what customer service is because anyone, even your employees or potential new hires are potential customers (or, in my case, loyal customers already). If I wasn't the right fit for the job, okay...I can deal with that. But blowing me off was horribly unprofessional. |
