do they always do these 3 things and charge you 185! seems a little expensive since I know the two usually are done for 70. Not sure how much physicals cost anymore. Do they always force you to do all 3, the drug test, the background and the physical?

did they do the tests then for free? or no tests, so no charge?

they say even for helpers is an additional 185. I was thinking this was to feret out drug abusers from applying, but then saw even more additional forms that my wife as a helper/substitute would have to fill out, and an additional 185! heck that's 90 out a week alone for first 4 weeks. Is this bs, and they just do if an ic has a drug problem after being contracted? between that and all the other fees...that's a lot of fees initially! after reading this contract I feel like I'm buying a house, definately the most pages to contract, I've seen for being an ic at a company. thanks again, Sprinter.

I don't know of anyone being charged ...at all. Sounds like BS to me. Wish I could be of more help. Velocity is an inconsistant, poorly run company. They have far too many fees and always seem to be against their own people.
Good Luck.

Velocity Express does, indeed, charge for these costs that are incorporated into the weekly fees they charge their I.C.s. If the I.C. wants a sub-driver or helper, they must pay the costs associated with testing, etc. which costs approx $185.

I spoke with someone today (who shall remain annonymous) and they said that the I.C.s pay has been cut again and, for the most part, they are working 5 days and only getting paid for 3. It's a vicious cycle! Rates get cut, the good drivers quit, lesser quality drivers replace the good ones, the service level goes down, the customer lowers the rate they pay Velocity, and Velocity lowers the rate paid to the drivers, so on & so on, blah, blah, blah.
