My sister and I are college-educated, both having Master’s degrees. Both of us have taught school, but not long enough to realize any sort of retirement. We have also had some commercial real estate experience through managing a small shopping strip center.

Now we need online jobs requiring 25-30 hours per week at home that pay around $20 per hour. I have diligently searched jobsites on the Internet for over one year now and find nothing except non-challenging jobs that pay $11-$12 per hour; these jobs can be learned in a week or two, and they advance to nothing except other similar jobs. Online tutoring is not very lucrative as it only pays a necessary amount while tutoring; little is paid while you are actually not tutoring the student. We find little outside the home that pays decently due to our ages (57 & 61), and the fact is we would need some training. The employers do not show much desire to train professional people in this age range. Also, we still manage the shopping strip that I mentioned above, so we need somewhat shorter flexible hours than the typical structured 40-hour work week. My sister’s degree is in Mathematics, and my degree is in Elementary Education. Furthermore, it is not prudent for one of us to work full-time and the other to manage the property since it (the property) is located approximately 50 miles (on the highway) from where we live and sometimes requires work at night (after the tenants close their businesses).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Phoebe
