Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at Wachovia? Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers? What is a typical day in the life of an employee at Wachovia? |

THE COMPANY IS PRETTY HARD TO GET A JOB AT. ABOUT 40 PERCENT OF THE PEOPLE THAT GO THROUGH THE PROCESS DONT QUALIFY BECAUSE THEIR BACKROUND. ANYTHING FROM A BOUNCED CHECK ON YOUR CREDIT REPORT, TO A DUI, TO ANY MISDEMEANOR WILL GET YOU CUT AS AN POTENTIAL HIRE. |

i work for the company. it really depends on the area of the company in which you work for that depends on the dress code. Wachovia seems to hire only those with a professional

I work in Human Resources for Wachovia. Any misdemeanor will NOT bar you from employment with Wachovia. Anything involving dishonesty or theft is a definite no, but I can tell you that we have hired plenty of people with misdemeanors such as DUI, etc. Wachovia is a family-friendly environment that expects a lot of each employee, but there is a lot of opportunity for recognition and advancement based on good performance. It is a dynamic, high-energy, professional environment, and we look for people who have those qualities. |

I briefly worked as a teller in southern NJ and I really enjoyed the position. The only problem I had was with the teller manager,Connie K.,who basically was just plain ignorant towards me most of the time. She would say hello to everyone else and every once and awhile she would throw me a bone and say hello to me. She would let other workers out of the building but when she saw me coming she would quickly walk away,as if not to see me. In the beginning she was ok but not long afterwards she went out to left field on me. I never did anything to her so I don't know what her problem was. Another long time employee who know her well had told me she had treated two former tellers the same. I reported her to the main office down south and to Human Resources. Also, at one time she was a manager for the bank and she was demoted. Hmmm I think there's a prblem there. |

My 2 cents on dress codes in Roswell, Georgia 15 months ago |
I am not involved with Wachovia, but I personally feel employers are within their rights to apply dress codes, especially in those instances where employees interact with customers or are out on appointments with them frequently. It is unfortunate these mandates have become commonplace given the trend toward casual attire. What I can say is image is everything, especially in sales. Many producers miss additional opportunties as a result of being dressed unprofessionally, unshaven, or otherwise poorly groomed. The "just got off the golf course in my plaid sleeveless sweater" appearance for men, or the "heading in from the beach in my bare legs and sandals" appearance for women doesn't work. I usually will seek to do business with those companies, or hire individuals that portray a professional image. Good luck job seekers! Just relaying an alternative opinion in the hopes of helping you all to get any edge that you can. Job interviews are hard to come by, and receiving offers are even harder. I am a new teller at Wachovia, and so far I like the company. The people are very friendly and seem professional. The only thing that I don't like...as others have stated...is the dresscode policy. |

Should I not even bother continuing the hiring process if I have poor credit? I have an interview for a Teller position and am now worried from what I have read here. |

I don't know if the candidate was given this reason but there is a concern with financial problems when an employee has access to cash or accounts. However, this is not the case of all banks. Good luck! |

And I got hired I think mainly they are looking for someone with good customer service experience and a clean criminal/drug background. BE POSITIVE!!!! |

To get a good estimate of Wachovia culture from actual Wachovia employees, you may want to take a look at the "Wachovia layoffs" in this forum. |

The company treats employees poorly, the hours are long, the environment is very bureaucratic and at many times unprofessional. The managers promise inflated incomes, life work balance does not exist. Pay is very mediocre, micromanaging is intense, Wachovia does not even do a christmas party. Diversity is a joke. Avoid working for this company at all costs, specifically the Financial Specialist, Service Banker, and Financial Center Manager positions. |

I know of two people right off the top of my head. So why is that not company policy? |

I worked an average of 70hrs a week, low pay, and I had to fight to get paid all the money that I was owed. |

I was able to get employment with a small bank and a large one, i.e. Wells Fargo in the past. Unfortunately, I have a 4 year old Bankruptsy and past DUI. I do not have any other negatives and 15 years of experience. Currently, my DL is suspended because of an unpaid ticket. I know it sounds bad. Do I still have a shot with Wachovia. My employment history is good and I have many references with people and supervisors that I worked with in the past???? |

Let me start by saying, I have worked for wachovia within the past 10 years. In 1994 prior to working for Wachovia I had a check for less than 8 dollars that was written and did not clear( we moved homes and chged banks at the same time, mistakenly di not leave enough money in the acct to cover service chrg, off by a few dollars when you counted in this check) The business the check was written to shut down. Instead of sending notices on the checks the company turned it over to the police.Long story short I was called and notified of the check, immediatley went down and paid the check and the fine. Now, it shows as a worthless check on my background report. As I stated I was hired by First union/ Wachovia in 1999, 5 years after this incident. I have since that time also worked for several banks without an issue. I recently interviewed for a position for Wachovia and after reading these threads I am fearful they will now not hire me because of an oversight 15 years ago. Do they not look at the circumstances as well as the fact that there were no other issues, not even speeding tickets since that time. Work history is excellent as well as my credit.
