I am about to go to an interview for the FS position. I already passed the phone screen and assesment test. I am a bit worried about the backgrouond check though. I had a drug problem several years ago. I have since cleaned up my life and have been workig with a large bank for the past 1 1/2 years. I have never been arrested, nor have I had a DUI. I did however write a bad check for $25 about 3 years ago that I had to pay a fine on. I also have a bankruptcy that was discharged in September of 2001. I will pass a drug screen, but I am worried about these blemishes on my life. Can anyone give me some real feedback on how this may affect my chances of being hired? |

The bad check is the only thing that you may have to worry about.

Ok, here's the deal: I have worked for Wachovia as a contractor on three different occasions. (1999-2000, 2003, and 2007-2008) During my last assignment, I was offered a full-time position. I was told to make sure I disclose all previous jobs held for the past 10 years, regardless the length or status (part or full-time)... and I wa also told to disclose any criminal records I may have. I disclosed EVERYTHING... I had 2 fraudulent check charges that were settled back in 1997. Because of those, I was denied employment and told that I could no longer work for Wachovia as a contractor or as a full time employee. Bank hiring practices are governed by the FDIC's Federal Deposit Insurance Act... specifically Section 19 of that Act. The text of this can be found here: |

If you read these blogs and forums, trying to get an unbiased or even serious response if difficult. I am not sure on the pay, but I have been with Wachovia for a little more than a month and absolutely love it. The money is less than I would have like, but this job market is tough. Glad to be there. If you get an opportunity to join, please do and judge for yourself. Take it from me, I have been around the block, all Financial Institutions have faults (tis the nature of the beast). Wachovia is huge and every office has a different vibe. All do. Good luck to you. I wish you the best. |
