No disrespect to those under 30, but I have found the opinion of those older have a little more factual detail and less emotion. Most of us over 30 realize that no job is perfect and it is what it is at the end of the day. With that said, does anyone have an older, wiser opinion of what it is like to work for Wachovia that is not an FS? What is the culture like?

That is actually kind of rude and not a good way to figure things out. You should be asking for people with a similar work history and background for answers. There are plenty of FSs over 30 who have no college degree and have sales experience only.. and not in banking. But someone who is 25 with a degree in Business Economics and an MBA plus 7 years of banking is not good enough or doesnt know enough. Right? Just like when customers come in and go straight to the male in a suit (who is new hire teller) instead of the young woman (who is the most capable person to help). |

Show me the FS that is below 30 with those credentials. I would love to hear from them. NO disrespect. Have you had a discriminatory event or are you making a point? Either way, I am sorry If I offende you. |

I understand what you are saying Tony. You need to read the other forums about what happened on the East Coast.. "Who else got fired from Wachovia" and the posts will explain the Financial Specialist job in great detail. |

Again, sorry if I offended anyone. I guess part of the problem is of my own experience. Not sure, but I have zero replies, so you are right. Will read some other forums. Good luck to you all. :) |

Its just frustrating to be younger and to have an education and experience and be looked down on as not being as good as someone 5 years older. I hate that because I look young and I am a woman that people assume I am a teller. I have worked very hard for what I have. Its annoying that older people complain about younger people making more money. What does it matter how old you are? With a job like this, the harder you work, the more knowledgeable you are, the more successful you are. And yes, I just pretty much said success=money. At this point in my life money does equal success. Maybe a year from now having a child and being a parent will equal success. And I am not some crazy feminist. Its just one of those things you dont think about or can really understand until you are in that position. Customers also come in with stinky attitudes and say stupid things like "I have shoes older than you" or "Are you even old enough to have a bank account yourself" ... A lot of times by the end of a meeting with someone I am praised for my efficiency and knowledge. I just wish people would not make assumptions. I understand that if I do a crappy job and screw up and sound stupid if they think I AM stupid but its not right for them to make comments without knowing who they are dealing with. I would never treat someone with disrespect because of age, sex, race, etc. I only get angry with people who are morons :) |

And by the way, I do have those credentials. IF you want to know why I have this job its because I do enjoy it and I make really good money. Its hard to leave and take a pay cut just to go somewhere new. I am a legacy World Savings employee and all of my tenure came with me when we merged...so I feel good here. |
