Compensation for a Mortgage Consultant in a Retail Wachovia Branch

I applied for a position for a retail mortgage consultant in a retail Branch. I spoke with the recruiter and she is forwarding my info to the hiring manager. My questions pertains to compensation in this position. She said the base salary 24k plus commission. I am on the wholesale side right now have been making very high income levels the past several years but with the down turn there is a lot of unstability on the wholesale side right now.I am considering switching to retail. Can this salary be negotiated? I was told maybe they would consider a forgivable draw the first 3 or 4 months. What kind of income levels can you obtain in a position like this? Can you make 250 to 350k per year in this market?? In addition to my own book of business will I get a substantial amount of leads from the branch I work at? Any insite would be appreciated. Thanks

I am a current Wachovia MLC looking for a new job because the monthly quota's that the company expects you to hit are unreasonable. You will be lucky to make 60k in a year. Last year, which was pretty good, I just made over 50k. Beware. The benefits are not very good either.

Could you give me some more details on the commission is paid and is your base 24k? Do you get a lot of leads?

you bring your own leads. I worked for wachovia for a year and it was to the worst. the job description for an MC at the interview and what I actually saw was like night and day. my L was a totally bull$hiter and so was our D. right around the time I left, about 1/4 of the MC's left.
