This has nothing to do with Appraisers or World Savings. This is strictly Wachovia Employees...

We are still reeling in Georgia from the mass firings from Jerome Byers.
I was let go on Monday.
Does anyone know what's going on????

NJ/NY as well 20 fired there, for most likely the same reason. It has to do with changing of acct types. dont know what you were fired for? No policies around it no nothing.

Ok, I have a friend who got put on probation for changing the accounts because their boss knew about it and she was never told not to do it.
I think the law basically says that you can be fired for whatever reason except you cannot be discriminated agaist. Which in essence means that if someone was fired and someone else was just given probation that is discrimination. Any thoughts??

I was put on Admin leave for the same thing and another friend and fellow fs was fired and another was fired then called back and then put on admin leave. What is wrong with Wachovia? I didn't know it was wrong either. I did what the boss said too.

I had to step in and add my 2 cents. I was also let go, or shall I say put on administrative leave until further investigation and it was due to changing accounts... This is a practice that was instilled in the group that i was hired with....We were told, "no free accounts", Always crown. This was instilled in me from the day i entered training.. This came from mentors, FSL's, Ready Talent Coordinators and past RBDs....So all of a sudden now its wrong to do this when we were taught this from day one. I am presently looking for an attorney now because I followed the directions of the leadership and what they told me to do..I know I am not alone in this matter and as god is my witness, I do plan on making noise.

i don't think this has to do with crown accounts, they are just using this to save money, stock is way down and they have to save money, by terminating us they save money on severance pay, fight to give us unemployment and mess up our u5's so we won't be able to work for any competitors, that's wachovia's values ladies and gentlmen.

I assume this is not the only board. We should get on yahoo and google finance, that may make an impact too, as investors look at that. I would imagine the investors and BOD would like to know about the companys situation.

I have been put on admin leave, be aware I heard from other sources that one person was just given probation.. Why are we the ones who are getting fired. She did the same thing. I smell discrimination. I did not give my correct email as Wachovia has a way to track it. I will put my real one out there as soon as I find out for sure if I was fired. I am going to make a "BIG NOISE" and have already looked online at Wachovia's firing employees all over and it seems to be a pattern. Someone's going to get fired due... without severance. The world employees that were fired were part of a 50mm severance, so I guess that Wachovia can't afford to pay us.. What a way to save money.
I figure this I was told "anyone" who attempted to munipulate the system is subject to immediate termination. After speaking with several still employed employees they all agreed that they did the same thing. Maybe just a few times.
instead of 20. When did Wachovia make a benchmark telling us what was dishonest.

Interesting....Everyone that has been either put on probation, admin leave, or terminated have all been people that were told to do this from day one in training.

the more I think about it, the less I want to return to Wachovia IF they decide or shall i say come to their senses and realize that we were doing what was asked of us to do and they bring us back, i am pretty sure that from here on in, most of us will be targeted and put under a microscope waiting for us to do something wrong, or not hit a particular goal just so they can justify termination.

I know right, but we will at least have our integrity. Have you ever had a bad review, not me.. I was never told this was wrong.. They expect us to lay down and take it they are sadly mistaken.

Nw, never had a bad review... Now you know what else is interesting... We have business accounts such as the custom business banking and these are no minimun balance for the first year(similiar to the crown for 90 days). After year one then the fees go into affect and I guess thats why they came up with the free business checking accounts so my question is, the FS's that put their business customers in custom business checking accounts instead of the free business checking accounts....are they going to be fired also once they change the account from custom business to free?

Seems likely.. don't they pay more sales credits up front or something like that???
If they didn't it seems to me that more lawsuits will be flying then. I heard that higher ups are scrambling now to save face. I have one friend who was fired one day and put on admin leave the next day.. Believe me the public will end up deciding this one once the real word gets out.

This is the start to something big. My phone has been ringing of the hook with all fellow FS's who are shocked and the buttom line is, Wachovia is downsizing and this is a way to cut cost without calling it a downsize. Now I am not sue where you are located and we can keep it that way, but i know here in the deep south, they are doing all they can to ave face. that is the reason why they called so many people back the following day to say, you are not fired, but instead on admin leave while we investigate. there is nothing to investigate, the FSs were simply doing what they were taught to do, period!

We will talk as soon as we get the final verdict.... Any idea about how long b4 we know. Yes, my phone has been ringing off the hook too.. Bad press for Wachovia right now is not a good thing. By the way go to yahoo seach and type in wachovia firing forum.. There is one listing...I'm on pins and needles as my rbd
called me Friday night late and told me HR will be calling me today or tomorrow to reinterview me.. He told me to write down everything I could think of. He has really been nice and feels that we have a good chance. I could care less about Wachovia, but I don't want my U5 to get messed up and having to explain "unethical" behavior to a possible new employer. I just want to leave on my terms.. I also feel that if they make us leave without severance, then they are free game to talk about to whoever we want to as long as we state facts.
I have pages of docs that I have already written out outlining training. And what lawyer would not love to take on Goliath.. I'm sure they will be drooling over this one.

yes, I look foward to it as well and i wish you nothing but the best. I heard we might find something out this week also but who knows.I am about to go to the other site and maximize that one as well. It appears your RBD is in your corner and thats a good thing. Now in regards to your U5 you don't have to worry about that. if you were terminated based on a securities issue then this is what would appear on your U5 and that would leave a mark, but if you are let go on the bankside, this will have no impact on the U5. I have 3 attorneys waiting for me to give them the okay as well.

80 FS's fired so far corporate-wide!!!

JUST A THOUGHT:
The math boils down to this: 80 * $100,000 (avg salary) = $8,000,000 in annual savings just in salary and incentive, not including benefits, pension, and 401K contributions in a year when FS's were promised to get a match on our entire salary and commission.

Those savings look great on paper, especially when you're looking for a potential suitor or merger opportunity. There have been rumors floating around about a possible merger with Chase; the rumors have been swirling since I worked at the Bank of New York, which is now Chase. Everyone at Wachovia is now talking about this possibility. I guess it's better to get rid of the employees before a merger than after it. Imagine the headlines after the merger: Wachovia/Chase shedding jobs. Is this maybe a pre-emptive action to avoid negative press?

ANOTHER THOUGHT:
It's funny how this is all happening right after Wachovia was named #1 in customer service again. All this will undoubtedly affect customer service, but now they'll have nearly a year to change customer's perceptions in time to reclaim the title next year. Timing is everything!

It just proves how all this was planned by corporate. I wonder how many more departments will be affected, and how many more voices we'll be hearing down the road (as everyone is quiet now because they believe they will not get caught up in this madness). This has nothing to do with Crown accounts and everything to do with short-term cost-savings without factoring in the long-term complications, which just furthers the notion that corporate is seriously considering a merger of some sort, especially in this economic climate.

I hope the current employees wake up and realize that there truly is no job security at a place like Wachovia, where they can just cast aside people who had given their all for a year, three years, five years, and even ten years...

Okay Group!!

Listen to this. I reliable source in the NC area just told me that what the management team is now doing is going back and looking at every summary of service you did and if you didn't put down on the summary of services that the crown is free for 90 days and then a balance needed to be maintaind afterwards, that is their grounds for termination. This is bull!

ok, I did do that on summary of service forms I think for most of my customers, maybe not all of them..That will probably seal my fate...
I heard from again another fs that said she did it also several times and did not know why she didn't get called.
She said she will testify that we were told to do this and trained this way..... as will the other fs's they said they also did accts that way. We were singled out. Plain and Simple.

Remember guys, if they do that for one they must do it for EVERYONE who opened crowns that way
.... otherwise I hate to use the "d" words but if discrimination fits..........

I have other ideas of what to do... let me know if any of you hear anymore.

ex wachovia terminated in unknown

i have also been fired from wachovia. i was put on admin leave for a few days and they called me in this a.m. and i've been terminated. i've heard that it is a total of about 600+ employees that have been terminated. that is actually 60,000,000+ on savings for them. you are right, it is absolutely discrimination if some ppl have been let go and others havent. i had about 30 out of 400 plus accts which had been changed from crown to free and they said i was manipulating the system to get extra sales credits. i'm sorry but 30 accts being changed would not change my total sales credits over the month. this was over the whole year was a total of 30. This is complete BS for them to save $ and instead of laying ppl off, they are terminating to help with their stock price. ridiculous. if you get a class action going, pls let me know.

I suggest one a little out of your area. A good beginning would be to call the new york times, or clark howard. He's not a big fan of Wachovia. He may be able to direct you to the right employment lawyer. Otherwise, wait and see what happens to the rest of us.

You know, when I look at the big picture, i should have seen the writing on the wall. I don't consider myself to be stupid, but in this case, i only have myself to blame. As soon as i started to notice that they were penny pinching and the price was dropping(48-23) i should have started my new search for a better company. I realy hope we are able to stick together and do something as a group...BTW, how do you know about clark howard in NC? Well I guess he is nationwide isn't he?

Oh by the way, just a thought, you need to sit down and write down everything you know about why you got fired. I know you don't have access to any of the things wachovia has so you will have to rely on other employees and your memory. The attorney will want a time-line. Any warnings you may or may not have received. Just about anything that you can think of.... The more ammo the better. Good luck thinking about you..

I hope that all of you continue to post to these boards as it is extremely helpful for those involved. From NJ we have 8 people ready to go the distance. Please keep it up. For those of you reading the messages with your stupid comments, go somewhere else, although your shallow thoughts make us laugh, we are trying to justify our jobs here and support each other, something you most likely know nothing about.
We need to keep on this thing because it will go away without a fight and really there are a ton of people affected here, MAJORLY!!
When talking about facts, here is one I know, although I heard a lot. But I would like to get down to the bottom line of FACTS, not hearsay, so if you know somehthing please post it, but if you heard something and you dont quite know its a fact, please mention that. This has become a legal issue and dealing with Facts is what will help us.

Sorry I forgot to mention the fact ---- NJ had about 10 people fired, NY had the same, all for the bogus crown situation. There were another 3 people but on probaation with no incentive for 90 days (which is worse than being fired I think with these bases).

Ok, I got what I needed from Pissedoffgirl,
It really is good information
Anyone else got it yet. The comment was that she passed this by three lawyers and they all said that if it depended on this info we have a very good chance.
Let me know if you did not receive it and I will try to get it to you. I just don't want this person to get the ax because she helped us. I also talked to an FS in Fl who said they too were told to do this. He did not get fired, but was told to do the same thing and never told not to.
