It's always hard to know what to expect when going in for that interview -- and preparation can make all the difference. What is the interview process like at Wachovia? Any advice on striking the right note? |

They ask for specific situations that you've been in. A lot of "Tell me about a time when you've...." and "Give me an example of a situation where you've..." If you go to their website, I believe it describes the process and types of questions you'll be asked. |

If you can't spell how you feel, you're definitely not someone that should be working there or anywhere outside of retail where spelling is not a basic skill required. Your use of capital letters and fragmented sentences is demonstrative of your skillset. Wachovia is a great company with a good solid record. If you do your time as a teller at any bank you're very likely to have the opportunity to grow. |

Sara I have to agree with you 100% That was soo terrible I could only laugh at it. LOL.... I went on the interview and I got the JOB!!! I am soo excited about it! (o: I can't wait to start. Everyone that I know that works there loves it. There are no complaints that I have heard the only thing I have heard is that the training for the series 6 an 63 are tough since you have to take a crash course on it all... do you work there now or are you looking to work there? |

I just interviewed for a FS position w/ Wachovia in NC today. The interview is done in STAR format (google it if you are not familiar) and all the questions are situational. My interview was given by two individuals who took turns asking me questions off a sheet of paper, and took notes about each of my specific answers. They wanted SPECIFIC examples (ex. I had this client named Mr. Smith who hated waiting in lines ….NOT general answers ex. Sometimes people get mad when the wait is long….) Here are some exact questions from the interview: Q. “Please name a (specific) time when you lost a sale, and thought about something you could have done later that might have changed the outcome of the lost sale.†Q. “Describe a situation where you felt overwhelmed with multiple tasks, and how you handled that situation.†Q. “Sometimes customers come into a branch and THINK they know exactly what they want. Describe a time when a customer came in and asked for a specific product/service and you offered him something to better meet his needs.†Q. “Describe a specific situation with a partner/business associate you have worked with that did not go well.†*** Not STAR format (beginning of interview) Q. describe your responsibilities of your current/last job How many partners did you work with? What did you like most about your last position? What did you like least about your last position? Q. Name 3 things that motivate you Do you have any questions for us? |

Can anyone tell me whether I've been decliend or still have to wait? I passed my 1st round assessment and interview on Mar18th. The HR staff was very nice and said she would arrange the 2nd round interview in the next week, that should be LAST WEEK. I did not hear from her since then so I made a call to her on last Monday and got the answer that she still waited for her boss's email reply, and will contact me once she receives the email. But I did not receive any response from her since last Monday. I am not sure whether I've been decliend, if I failed, will they contact me no matter via email or phone to simply let me know. However, am I failed after I passed the 1st round but without getting into the 2nd round? And should I call HR again regarding the selection process or wait? |

COULD YOU IMAGINE HOW THEY THEIR EMPLOYEES????? such an uneducated individual you are angela. by the way lots can be said about wachovia but in the end they treat their customers like gold. in fact bad shops (customer opinions on service) will get you fired. so in future angela if you are just pulling stuff out of your butt keep it to yourself because you are greatly misinformed, because wachovia prides itself on customer service its the only thing that keeps customer from withdrawing all their assets and taking it to boa. |

ARE YOU ALL CRAZY.... DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT CONSIDER WORKING HERE. I DID AND I WILL TELL YOU, THEY WILL RUN YOU OUT IN THE END. MY STOCK HAS WENT FROM CLOSE TO 60 A IN AUGUST OF 2007 TO A CLOSE OF 17.90 TODAY.. THAT SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING ABOUT THE WAY THEY RUN A COMPANY.. BEFORE YOU CONSIDER A JOB WITH THEM.. TAKE A LOOK AT THE FORUM " WHO ELSE GOT FIRED FROM WACHOVIA" |

Oh come on...if you are reading this blog you'd have to be brain dead to apply; or perhaps a Wachovia supervisor hoping to score some points by showing you know how to read a blog. Either way; take the blue pill and move on... |

Host said: It's always hard to know what to expect when going in for that interview -- and preparation can make all the difference. What is the interview process like at Wachovia? I had an interview with Wachovia for a teller position today. Some of the questions were: and most were in the STAR format (4 STAR questions, and 3 others not in STAR format)... Think of a time when you worked at a job with high ethical principals and rules and how did you handle this situation? Think of a time when you needed to seek advice or get help at a position you held. Describe how you went about this and the result that came from it? Think of a time when you were forced to follow a company policy that conflicted with the interests of a customer? Think of a time when you went above and beyond for a position? Describe what you did and the result. Ok, and then there were about 3 other questions that were not in the STAR format. And now I'm struggling to remember what they were. Easiest way to answer the STAR questions, b/c I think they change them often, is to not rush to give an answer right away. You can pause and collect your thoughts before answering and because it is much more than a one part answer they should understand you taking your time. They also sometimes asked me random things about my job history and background, but mostly be prepared for the STAR format because they take notes on everything you say. I found out after the interview that I got the job, although an official offer may take another week or so. Good luck and hope this helps! |
