After reading comments on indeed.com about all sorts of companies, I am surprised that the comments (since they are mostly complaints) get amazingly down to the truth for the companies I know about. (Microsoft =stress, long hours and backstabbing, UPS = people screaming at you, WaMu = large company that does not care about people anymore and is laying off everyone they can.) Here is my experience after working at the corporate offices. At WaMu they do not even pretend that people count any more, it is all about profits. Jobs are constantly going to India or other places where people costs are cheaper.
This is true of other large companies as well, and not unique to WaMu. Unfortunately. |

There is one company that I worked for that I highly recommend. HSBC is a world bank, and I worked for them for two years. They REALLY care about their employees and go out of their way to ask for suggestions to make it a better workplcae. They care about their customers just as much. It's a great company to work for. It's always in the top companies in the United States to work for. |

I think Wamu cared about their employees since there were many celebrations and recognition, especially for the branch folks. The enviroment of Wamu was very dynamic. I can;t say the same about Chase. Unfortunatly back office positions at any company are lowest priority, not just at Wamu. |
