What does the background check performed by a staffing agency for a contract position at Wells Fargo cosist of ? Is it the same as for a permanent hire?

i just finished the background check...it took i believe 3 weeks...they really dont care about DUIS, SUSPENDED LICENSES, CRIMINAL LITTERING, ENDANGERMENT,PROBATION, BECAUSE I HAVE TWO DUIS, LICENSED IS REVOKED, AND A FELONY OF ENDANGERMENT, AND CURRENTLY ON PROBATION AND I PASSED THE BACKGROUND CHECK AND IS ELIGIBLE TO HIRE...SO IF YOU HAVE ANY KIND OF THEFT, DISHONESTY OF TRUST OR ANY OF THAT NATURE YOU WILL NOT GET HIRED..HOPEFULLY THIS COMMENT EASES SOME OF YOUR MINDS AND HEARTS AND WILL BE LESS WORRIED JUST BE VERY PATIENT WITH THE BACKGROUND CHECK BECAUSE IT CAN TAKE A LONG TIME...GOD IS GOOD.

Hi, i have a simple assault conviction which is a misdemeanor Class C. I am just wondering if I would get hire to work at wells Fargo with this type of charge in my record. I can't seem to get a job because of it and I am extremely devastated, I tried to expunge it and it was denied. I really need to work and After reading a couple of comments out here I think it would be good to apply to WF and give it a shot.

I just got offered a position at Wells Fargo and have a deferred/expunged domestic and possession charge. Will that disqualify my employment on a background check. I didn't mention it on my application because I was told not to on applications since it wont come up on background checks, but this one is FBI check and I already know because of the charges I can't join the military because they will still see it... I'm in Des Moines Iowa too if that's important.

I was offered a position today for a Loan Doc Specialist position. 20 years ago I have charges for bad checks and exbezzelment. I totally made a mistake and have not had any charges since then. I hold a notary license as well an NC insurance underwriter lic. Do you think this will disqualify me for this job?

it may depend on you state and how they handle your charges. i have the same problem from 20 years ago with bad checks. i was not able to work at a bank. but it is not the bank that it is a problem it is through the FDIC. google FDIC- section 19 and you will find out all about why you cannot work for a bank. but there is a section 19 waiver for individuals. this waiver will waive the bank from being fined 1,000,000 a day for having someone with embezzelment and fruad charges. but read through it, it might help. good luck.

Do you know how I would apply for the waiver? If I understood it correctly it says the institution has to apply for that? Do I tell him upfront that I have the charges and can I apply for the waiver? This has never been a problem, even when I applied for my notary or my lic. for insurance through the state and I had to be finger printed for that?

I am wondering if it is worth putting myself through the background check just to get turned down because of those old charges. What do you all think???? I am a little more hopeful now with Sara's post but just not sure. Will it be HR that calls or the person making the offer?

Funny that you ask. I got a call Monday from another lady asking if I had accepted the offer. I then told her I had not recieved one and she said that she would get it out to me in the next few minutes. I waited all night, then last night I called and left her a message that I had still not recieved it and left my email addess again. NO OFFER AS OF YET. I had two more interviews today, one of which I have accepted at a law firm. I cannot sit and wait on Wells Fargo to decide on sending the offer or not.
Thanks to all who commented and tried to ease my mind on the background issue. I might now still see if I get the offer go through the process just to see if I could pass the background check for the future.

oh sorry just got the message. contact your local FDIC and ask them, it might depend on the state. but you will still have to put the charge on applications, you will get a letter that you show the interviewer or attach it when applying. then techneclly they cannot not hire you. but our chance may be slimmer, it is wourth a shot, better than nothing. good luck.

(continued) oh the waiver also has a spot for indivials. but you have to contact the FDIC first becuase some charges can be considered de minimus meaning its too small to fill out the application and they can just give you a letter without having you fill out the applicaition.

I was approved to work at wells fargo as of today. It's worth applying even if you are afraid they'll deny you because the worst they can say is no. Just to clarify, I had two expunged charges. One was domestic and one was drug possession. Good luck to all!

Hi, I've applied to more than thirteen full and part time teller positions in my area in the time frame between June to last week. Unfortunately, each of my applications have been declined. I was wondering if it would be okay to contact a recruiter and ask why my application has been declined.

I'm completing my bachelor's degree in finance this upcoming semester from a reputable university and I have more than two years of work experience in customer service and sales for two Fortune 100 companies. I have no criminal record and have clean credit. Every e-mail I've received has said "Thank you for you interest in position...After carefully reviewing your information we have decided to select a better qualified candidate that meets our needs...", and my assessment results say proceed. I've also never been dismissed from a position and have secured multiple professional and personal references.

I'm very troubled by the negative responses I've received and would really appreciate some recent advice on what actions I should take as well as any tips on the application process. I'm also waiting for responses on five more applications. Should I wait until after I receive a response on those applications to contact recruiting? I feel I should but I don't want to miss out on additional opportunities due to an error on my part. Thank you in advance for your advice!

You have to fill out the application either way, including a fingerprint card. The FDIC has to verify the charges meet de minimis exception. Then you need to have the FDIC send a letter to the background check company to clear you.

The FDIC knows how Section 19 is affecting bank employees who have no control over the bank. They're actually trying to get people past the rule. If you're in need of approval or a waiver, talk to them because they are trying to help.

New Banker in Harbor City, California

Since this forum has been so much help, i'd thought i would share my experience. I was employed by another major bank. Got terminated for violating company policy. I applied at wells fargo 2 weeks. Did the personality test and questionaire. Immediately following the assessment, i had to choose my interview date and place. The first group interview was a week later so i penciled myself in.

Kids, first impression is everything. If you appear like a slob, chances are you are a slob. Dress to impress. Can't stress that enough. The recruiter was very informative on what to expect and what the next steps were. After she explains the job criteria we went into the questions. There were 4 questions the first day. We each went around and took turns answering the question. Some candidates i could not understand for the life of me, and some candidates completely avoided the question. ANSWER THE QUESTION! Be as articulate as you can, and stay to the point. At the end of the interview, she told us we would get an email regarding the next steps. You either moved on or you got a dear john letter. Fortunately for me, i got to move on.

The recruiter will send you another email regarding the next phase. Basically telling you theres 2 parts. First part was a role play. We had to sell a checking, savings or an online bill pay, depending on what the interviewer selected for us. Part of the packet the recruiter sends, will have all this information so you should be prepared for this part. SELL WELLS FARGO PRODUCTS! Go online to wellsfargo, look up all the information pertaining to those products. The more comfortable you are, the better your chances will be.

The next step is the 1 on 1. We had about 8 branch managers present. You are interviewed by 3 of them. Again,be articulate, straight forward and answer the question. At the end of the 1 on 1s the recruiter informed us of the dear john letter again. Fortunately for me, again, i got to move on to the background.

I received a call today saying that I was being offered the position if i passed the fingerprinting and background check. I am so stressed out as my current job will be ending soon and i need this job. I was CONVICTED OF PETIT THEFT in 2001. I had interviewed with wellsfargo 6 years ago and was told to reapply after it had been over ten years since my conviction. so here i am! i will be doing my fingerprinting tomorrow and am so worried. the training starts on september 10th and i dont want to put notice in with my current job as the last time wells fargo waited until the day i was to start training to tell me that i didnt get the position. ANYONE have anything to ease my mind or previous experiences?

Had a minor misdemeanor less than 12 months ago that is on my record but is not related to theft/dishonesty/money. Other than that I'm completely clean and have an ok credit score. Found out today that I passed the background check and will be starting next week. If you have a theft/dishonesty charge don't bother as new FDIC regulations basically deem you unfit for a position with a bank they insure, however if you have something else, go for it. They will most likely not ask you any questions about your past but if they do just be honest.

I would definitely try! Based on my offer letter I wouldn't think it would prevent you from getting hired. However I know for different positions there are different requirements. Wellsfargo is an amazing company so I would atleast try. You won't know until you do!

I got an offer last week for a PB position, I am awaiting the background check and am a bit nerve wracked, my fingerprints were submitted thursday and I previously worked for chase. I know there was a hit and even though it did not relate to the questions asked re: theft, money laundering, breach of trust. I placed No on those questions and stated below that in approx. 1997 reckless driving and attempt to elude, which are misdemeanors. However, I am wondering if I should worry. The process with Chase took awhile but it was all clear and i was hired but I was actually able to speak with someone regarding it. Firstadvantage told me they are working on contacting the county for the info. on friday, should I even be nerve wracked? they want to start me soon. I can see no reason this goes against FDIC reg. or SAFE act as I was registered before. Please, ANY advice is helpful.

Hi,I am completely stressed over the WF background check. I was offered the PB position pending background clearance. I have 1 misdemeanor DUI and 1 felony DUI with a warrant. I have been waiting about 3 weeks to hear something back but nothing has been said. first advantage says they are don't with but can't give me any information only my recruiter can tell me. The has sent me my i9 documents since then but hasn't mentioned if I passed the background check ot not. My start date is in a little over 2 weeks. Has anyone else had the same charges and got hired or didn't get hired? Thanks!

How long does firstadvantage take? I mean two weeks and a recruiter out until next week, this is really unreasonable and they are still processing my background check. Does anybody respond to this forum? If so, I have posted one other post. In addition, I bellieve that they should be up and at them when they offer a position to expedite the process. I have two interviews at other companies, one is tomorrow, there is no way that I can sit around and keep waiting. One specific opportunity is double the base offered to me but more time commitment.

I am currently employed already for a bank but was recently charged with a felony of grand theft completely unrelated to my job at the bank. My lawyer has recommended I accept a pretrial intervention program offer the judge has offered. Reading the FDIC policy I saw I would have to send an application to them for approval to keep working with them. I do not fall under de minimus offense, this is a felony which falls under dishonesty or breach of trust. Reading through their policy I am unsure as to if I would have to wait 10 years in order to work for them or not. After completing the PTI program I could then have the arrest expunged and there shouldn't be any problem according to their policy. I'm unsure as to if I should just keep quiet and run the risk of a red alert appearing on the FDIC about my charge at some point and just wait the 2 years to have it expunged or if I should just send the application to the FDIC and run the risk of losing my job. I would really appreciate all feed back

Did my two interviews, did wonderful and now.. i recently got a call from Wells Fargo and got hired, now they told me i had to get a background check and finger print screening, i've scheduled my appointment for the finger prints and i've never did get finger printed in my adult ages. BUT i did get a misdemeanor C theft under $50 when i was 17 which in Texas is considered an Adult. I was offered the deferred but i instead had to pay the $500 and its on my record because they told me it was to late to take my deferred classes, etc. Basically, i'm scared they might use that against me and take the job away from me. My question is.. has anyone been in this situation and ended up getting hired? .. i really look forward to going to training, they have me scheduled to train on Oct 1, 2012. and now i'm scared they will give me that phone call that i didn't make the background check.
