Starting salaries are competive. Get it while going in. BUT you will be expected to perform per your position (pressure, pressure, pressure). Profit sharing is nice. No raises per se without promotion. Benefits are ok. Once you come up to speed be prepared to travel to lovely Thailand and/or Malaysia.
The guys at the top make a lot of $$, but unfortunately, there very little trickle down at WD. Western Digital has had a history of not being able to get and keep quality employees.
Expect very little guidance from management. They don't seem to know what they are doing. There is a core group that knows what it takes to get the job done. They are very extremely overworked but very well rewarded. Very hard to become one of them without WD historical experience. Everyone else is noise.
People in general complain about working at Western Digital but they stay. Seems typical for a hi-tech company that pays well but works you like a slave. Kind of like Broadcom. So, make your own judgement. Don't expect appreciation for a job well done.
Keep in mind, how you are treated during the interview will be the best you will be treated as an employee.
