I would like to address the management issue, and diversity issue at Cardinal Health.

I was employed with the company for 5 years as of 2/1/08. During that time I've had the opportunity to work at two different divisions of Cardinal. The first division in which I spent 4.5 years, I've seen two individuals (favorites) move to 5 different positions within the organization, one of which is now in a Director position. Each of these employees stayed in each of the position less than one year. This type of movement of favorite employees was the norm. Unfortunatley, it was not motivating for the other staff memebers who witnessed this on a regular basis. The management at both divisions were incompetent and in many cases did not have the educational background to be in management positions ie; NO COLLEGE DEGREE (only high school diplomas). I was turned down for serveral position within the organization because, I like Cindy Lou had the experience but no degree, (which was the motivator for me to return to college). However, my manager moved from being an Adm Asst, to supervior to manager all with in a 1.5 year period with only a high school diploma. At both divisions I experienced mangers who were "cocky", inexperienced and had no people skill. Moral was down in both locations and turn over was unreal.

Diversity:
When I started with Cardinal there were a series of "get to know the company" forums that were created to give you a history of Cardinal. During one of my forums (facilitated by the VP) a question was posed regarding what percentage of Caucasions, African Americans and minorities are in management roles thoughout the entire Cardinal organization. This included their operations in Africa, Asia, Europe etc. I said 90% of management was Cacausian. The answer was 98% of the managers in the entire Cardinal organization is white. This included their operations in Africa and Asia. That says a lot for Cardinal Health.

To continue my thoughts....

Soon after the, 98% of management being white forum, Cardinal got into this "diversity" craze. Every email received was in reference to diversity and making Cardinal "all inclusive". The truth of the matter is that Cardinal was being sued for discrimnation. At both locations in Lavergne Tn there are no black, asian or hispanic managers. If you are currently a Cardinal employee there was a write up about Cardinal joining forces with the Black MBA organization to recruit qualified African Americans with MBA's recently. This month on the intranet there was a write up about Cardinal's one and only black executive in OH which coinsidentally has an MBA. I said all this to say it may be good for you in your location but over all Cardinal is not an employer who embraces diversity or has caring and competent managers. They may in the future. It looks as if they are making stride to come up to the 21st century. But overall I don't feel as if they are one of the best companies to work for if you are looking for a true career with a company with growth opportunities and caring management. The best thing that ever happend to me in 5 years was the day I turned in my resignation.

I work at the Ontario DC and anyone who says Cardinal is a Positive place is a kiss butt! I have been there over 10 yrs and have seen Allegiance/Cardinal go from great place to work to NIGHTMARE! U HAVE A NIGHT MANAGER WITH AN AA DEGREE THAT KISSED BUTT TO THE TOP... THE BUILDING IS RAN BY 95% women who like to show their power over a man. Ontario has its favorites who snitch on other co-workers to get to the top! NO more Bonus,taking away kaiser going to one provider,just some examples... ITs not a friendly place to work anymore! IM obligated because of my Mortgage and family or else i would be so outt a there! Taking away man power spreading work out for what little is left!

Changes are promised but never are they made! The moral of the place has hit rock bottom yrs ago! Look at the stock, for a top fortune 500 it should have been higher. We were told in a meeting "Oh YEah Stock will double in 08" yeah right! Quality of workers has dropped for ex: one guy would stand around or sit all day and not word would be said to him or her! NO team work everyone works as an individual!Sum it all up, Cardinal has let down many hard working employees! Its sad that nothing good is shown in return!
IM wondering if the rest of the country is like this? KISs butt, always r those favorites, abuse of power, lack of leadership!

I have been to the pharmacy in Swartz Creek and don't believe that's the case because I saw a lot of women there some of which were not Caucasion.

I've applied for a warehouse position MANY, MANY times for this company, only to hear NOTHING from them.(I have plenty of relative experience). They seem to have a VERY high turnover rate-the same postings (for the PM shift) show up every now & then like cockroaches.I was able to finally get an interview with the help of a CH recruiter.She was reluctant to interview me because I've been unemployed for over a year now. I went to the interview only to find that she was just going thru the motions-telling the recruiter that she was concerned about my being out of work for so long. I told the recruiter that narrow-minded thinking like that is what keeps me unemployed.I personally hope that that fat#ss witch has to be in my shoes someday & that her bad karma pays her back. SHE is probably the reason that they cannot keep people on that shift.

The environment is extremely negative, they
have poor management,have high turnover and tolerate bullies and incompetent employees who kiss up. If your just concerned with decent pay and benefits, then you may want to apply.

Thank you for your comments, I was thinking about applying at Cardinal. Working in a negative and stressful workplace is not healthy for the mind,body, and spirit. One question how long was your employment with them?

anyone in San Diego, California said: well brandon missippi, san diego is in trouble. Incompitent managers managing incompitent employees that show up enough to get paid. I have never as a professional witnessed or worked in an environment where people are treated and allowed to treat each other the way they do at Cardinal. The good-ole-boy mentality is alive and well - but they will never admit it. The ones that are supposed to be there to spot and deal with it can't see it because they too are as much to blame for its existence. I have associates that have worked there who tell stories and can site examples of poor and no management of personnel, racism (yes that term that noone likes to hear), nepatism (I hire my buddies and they hire their buddies regardless of whether their qualified or not), etc, etc, etc.

Yes racism and nepatism are all part of the culture. And don't trust management to be up to the task of doing anything to deter or prevent it because they value their jobs too much. Too many of them have been with the company doing the same thing the same way that they are incapable of seeing the error of their ways. And when they hire from outside it's with as much thought as what they will have for lunch because their too involved in other things or without sufficient knowledge of the skillset needed to make good decisions. The consent decree is just one example of the results of poor management and misdirection. How does a company that has the potential of affecting the lives of so many continue to do business this way you ask - have internal auditors teaching them how to work the system, draw up documents that nobody really reads and call them required training. And don't make waves or you'll find yourself on the outs with an HR department that works solely for the company not the employees. There are very nice people there working in a very negative environment. Challenge the establishment and your gone.

Anonymous in Brandon, Mississippi said: A portion of the management review does incorporate the quality and diversity of the new hires the manager makes. I find that it is unfortunate if this is happening at your facility. The panel of interviewers must make the best decision based on the interview process and sometimes unqualified candidates do slip through. Applicants can talk a good story during the interview process which can fool the interview panel and get hired. After that point it is up to management to decide if the new hire truly demonstrates the abilities stated during the interview process. The director of the facility will be privy to the information pertaining to the means to deal with the situation at hand. Info will be on a need to know basis. If this is truly apparent at your place then I am sure something is in the works wether you are on the know or not. There are protocols that must be followed before the dismissal of even a new hire. I urge you to speak with your manager using the open door policy and if you get no resolution then move up the chain of command. If there is no resolution then contact the ethics hotline. Rest assured if it is noticed by more than you then something is being done about it.
If there is a problem with the quality of the new hires then try making a suggestion to the panel about setting certain criterias which they need to look for.

WHAT HAS ANYONE HEARD ABOUT CGI, IT HAS MANY COMPANIES HERE BUT BAS OUT OF MONTREAL ?

They leave you felling good, your hopes are up, all for a pratice interview. In the old days they would send you a post card or thank you letter. Now just lie to you.

I totally agree. I interviewed and was told im in the running. I never heard from them again. I left 17 messages and emailed everyone i could. Not a peep. Didnt even have the common decency to tell me no. I think its a satisfactory company but they definately dont care about people. Dont care what anyone else says. Thats my opinion. iv heard from a number of others as well who have had similiar experiences.

take it from me.CH is an joke.worked there as an temp and had to put up with all kinds of BS.examples;

one time the main boss asked me to mop up an spill.went to look for a mop and naturally it wasn't in the area it was suppose to be in.took me 5mins of walking to find it,and as im heading back with the mop the boss chews me out for "SCREWING" around.

i come home one day to find out from the temp service that i was let go.AFTER being told i was going to get fulltime position.
they let all the temps go on second and third shift.THEN find out an month later they hired 50+ ppl OFF the street for fulltime jobs.
none of them had ever worked there before.

to show you how bad CH is here's an couple of prime examples;

within 1 month of being let go 11 fulltime ppl left.granted 2 were fired but that has to tell you something.

when the cleaning guy on 2nd shift left,father in mexico was dying,they went through 14 ppl in 12 days to fill his spot. at that time it was $10hr to just empty trashcans.
