What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable? How does Union Pacific Railroad stack up against the competition? |

They will continue to post big numbers because they are very money hungry and don't care whose pockets they get it from. They cut jobs every week and short pay employees (TE&Y) every half. With 70,000 plus employees that adds up every month, twice a month. They have over expanded and guys that hired on 2 years ago are employees but not working. Layoffs are happening and are also voluntary. Against the competition it's all the same. Others do good business in different parts of the US so they stack up in the top 3. |

wife of an applicant in Little Rock, Arkansas 57 months ago |
My husband has applied a dozen times for several jobs within his experience and education know hows with Union Pacific RR in the last couple of months. They were very quick in getting back with him, respond time for a telephone hiring set date and time was quick too. Every job he applied for he received a telephone call on his cell phone and a announcement on the internet. But he has turned down the last hiring session because of all the RISK of leaving a full time employment to go to maybe no hours per week with Union Pacific. He was recently invited to four hiring sessions, the last one is for the 11th of this month but he is not going to it. We do not want TO LOSE OUR SHIRTS WITH TRANSFERIN INTO A COMPANY WHO WILL NOT GIVE THE NEW HIRE A 40 HOUR WEEK SO HE CAN SUPPORT HIS FAMILY AND NOT LOSE EVERYTHING HE EVER WORKED SO HARD FOR IN HIS LIFE. WE ARE NOT FROM ARKANSAS WE ARE FROM ARIZONA, RECENTLY YOUNG RETIRED AFTER 22 YEARS IN THE USCG. GOOD LUCK BUT BE CAREFUL NOT TO FALL OFF INTO POVERTY.... |
