Do you work at Abbott Laboratories? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview? Any advice for someone trying to get in? |

I highly recommend www.delta-pharma.com They are well networked with the pharma community in this area and can offer consulting opprotunities to get your food in the door. |

How "real" are the jobs they advertise? They've been running the same ad for a patent lawyer for over a year now, so either the lawyers they are hiring keep quitting on them, or this isn't a real posting. |

sometimes a company will advertize and be patient until they find the right candidate, and not just to fill a head count. |

My guess is that they leave jobs that has been filled posted just in case they need to hire another person or they do not like the person that they hired. I applied for a job and got a response 3-4 months later. The company wanted me to fill out a questionaire and I did. It took me hours to complete. After all this work I got no response upon submitting. |

I was a contractor in their QA group in Alameda, it seems like that they want to fill the same position every 6 months or so to get a fresh mind to debug their software, but they will lose that 6 months of experience of the person they let go!?! |

This must happen a lot. I also got a pre-questionaire from Abbott, filled it out and then nothing. My thought at the time was that they were looking for someone who they could pay below what they are worth since one of the questions was: "What are your salary requirements? Base? Bonus?" I put what was typical for the position in the given location. Can't be certain though. |

I applied through their website, got a call a month later, interviewed, filled out the long questionaire and got hired. They take their time in hiring to find the right person for the job. Excellent benefits... |

Often, HR will post a position just to gather salary histories from external applicants, as a means to determine the market value of a position which they may or may not actually plan to fill. |

I would never take a recommendation from someone that can't even spell ("opprotunities" and "food in the door"?). That is pretty scary!! |

Filled out the very important questionnaire, was told I'd hear back right away, then nothing. Had all the qualifications. Found out later through a friend they don't want to pay or bring anybody on as a senior person. She's been there 20 yrs., they're expecting cutbacks again. Total waste of time. |

Obviously you have spelling problems also opprotunities, I just think it was a typo, she gave her opinion and it takes someone like you to knock it down when your floor isn't squeaky clean either |

Does the Temecula location normally fill most of open positions through referrals? I have been trying to get into Abbott (Guidant: pre-acquisition) with no luck. |

I have not heard that to be the case. I had a friend who was offered a position as proj mgr from mil/aero. That's what I am hanging my hat on.... |

But then, most companies hire referrals since it costs less per hire.... |

What is the "questionnaire" is it like a job application or does it ask behaviorial type questions? |

Does anyone know if Abbott Labs requires a pre-employment physical or a drug test or both? |

Would someone be able to tell me what the general starting salary Abbott is looking to offer for a Regional Lead Clinical Research Associate for someone with 18 years experience, or let me know if I would be wasting my time in applying there, please? |

I am not sure - I think only a urine test is required for prospective employees or new hires. I would also like to know if its hair or urine, or both testing required, myself. If you keep your system clean of illegal drugs then you have nothing to worry about. I think just urine only. |

Abbott in Temecula, California appears to receive tons of resumes and applications. It's probably better to have connections in order to get on at this location, imo. The good thing is that www.imagineausa.com helps people in this area. |

What they like- people who know how to give the right answers when they interview and referrals from people they love on the inside. Good Luck- it was a great complany to work for!! |

Any ideas on what the likelihood a contracted employee would get hired on full time? Is it worth the risk of accepting a contracted position in hopes of being hired on with Abbott? Thanks! |
